Count me in as a big fan as well. I was at Dragoncon this year and went to a panel on 1999. Not much new was said, but it was great to remember the series with a room full of fans.

I remember that. Sunday nights was Star Trek at 6pm and Space 1999 at 7pm. I think it was WPIX.

I like Space:1999 but I'm a new fan. One thing that bugs me about the show is Martin Landau's freakish lips. I can't stop staring at them.

        Happy Belated Breakaway Day!

Yeah, I loves me some Space:1999. I hold it in the same regard as Star Trek because when I was five, they were both on at the same time. The Star Trek toys were right next to the Space:1999 ones and because they played on Saturday morning, I assumed they were children's shows.

1999 hasn't aged as well but I still think it's unfairly maligned by the critics both then and now. Fandom then was so biased towards trek it's like they viewed 1999 as a threat, always hated that.
I was too young at the time to be privy to the whole fandom response but I heard what it amounted to was complaints that it wasn't like "Star Trek" in this or that respect.

Well, that's great! I love "Star Trek" but let "Star Trek" be "Star Trek" and "Space:1999" be "Space:1999". They were asking that "Space:1999" copy "Star Trek" and they got their wish (kind of) in series 2.

"Space:1999" had it's own motif and I wish they had another season in the original format to work out the kinks in the first. The first season had some great moments and had great potential but it did have problems.

I still dig both seasons but in different ways.

Not aged well..?? On the contrary, 1999 Year 1 has aged remarkably well over the years. Year 2, well, that's a different subject.

Yes, it STILL is my favorite Number One Show..!!! I never get tired of watching it..

I could fit only 10 eps on my iPod before coming to Kuwait, so I can't wait to get back home and watch the rest.. My favorite toy is still the huge Mattel Eagle.

Eagle liftoffs..?? They still do it for me.

I'll concede season 1 has aged better than season 2, that's pretty obvious I guess.

I never noticed until the last few years how limited an actress Barbara Bain is, Landau on the other hand, really fleshed out Koenig.

I'm still blown away by how attractive Catherine Schell was.

I didn't mind Catherine Schell much, just didn't like the shape-shifting concept. TOO gimmicky.

But the 'rocket guns' were cool..!!

I also missed Victor Bergman way too much. I felt the older-younger relationship with Morse and Landau was more suitable for Landau than being the 'older guy' next to Anholt and Hug.. (Tony and Bill Frasier)

                    I just loved Moonbase Alpha..
