Action figure collectors...how important are vehicles and playsets to you?

Just wondering everybody's thoughts and feelings about this. One part of me wants to be a completeist, but another part dislikes the space they take up in a display.
The other dilemna is I like both diorama and police line-up type displays.

I think the Mego vehicles really make the display look sharp. I don't care about any other lines. Even with the Megos, I may not get all vehicles. I'm still on the hunt for a Jokermobile, though.

I love playsets and vehicles and wish more would get made. They do take up space so I understand the ambivalence people have, but... a part of me kind of feels that playsets are what it's all about. I also think 8" scale is like the threshold, the last stop on the feasibility scale: anything bigger is just too big. There's a guy on the Sideshow Freaks board who makes Star Wars vehicles for 12" figures. He's done Mos Eisley dioramas, a Landspeeder, a partial X-Wing, and last I saw was working on a Millenium Falcon cockpit. They're jaw-droppingly awesome, but they take up space the way that furniture does.

That's what was so cool about '80s G.I. Joe and Star Wars--they were perfectly sized: big enough to be interesting on their own, but small enough for vehicles and playsets.

With Megos they are everything. I want to collect them all and try hard to do so.

When I did collect Super Powers I also had to (and did) have all the playsets and vehicles from the line. The fact they were all cool certainly helped.

I could see it being an issue with collecting modern Star Wars. That line has a ton of vehicles and playsets.

As a kid I didn't have much interest in playsets.
I usually made my own out of a cardboard box and masking tape

As an adult playsets don't interest me one single bit.

I love playsets! I really wish my toyroom were bigger, so I could display more of them. Right now I have the Mego Enterprise, The Playmates Enterprise, the POTA treehouse, A Dida Batcave, and the GIJoe Adventure Team Headquarters. But I also really like the POTA village set and Scott's Tri-box playsets, b/c I can store them in my closet when not in use. I also really like my Batmobile. But vehicles aren't that important to me. One day, I would really like to make my own Mission to Gamma VI set.

Yes, I can see I believe that it's magic
If your mission is magic your love will shine true."

I sold all my Mego playsets...I just didn't have room to display them.

I only had one as a kid, the Star Trek Bridge playset...and I loved it.

I collect 80's GI JOe, vintage star wars, mego wgsh, and kenner indy line and dabble in other lines.

I don't get too deep into anything but the figures. vintage star wars I have the falcon, and a speeder bike ... falcon to me is just such a big part of the line I was a must have, the speeder bike because it's just so cool. as for the other vehicles and playsets I don't care too much about getting them ... but wouldn't mind getting a deathstar at some point

80's GI joe vehicles and playsets, the big stuff ... naw no room and so much of it ... I do want to get a cobra Fang and Sky Hawk and a hiss tank ... just some of the smaller items you saw in the cartoon most often.

Mego well I'd like to get the wayne foundation because I had one as a kid, but other than that ... I'm sticking to the figures. I would go for the batmobile but the scale is off so much it just bugs me.

He-Man ... well, he's gotta have Battle cat ... other than that ... blah lol

I do have the super powers batmobile for that line, it's the only thing really outside of the figures for that line I wanted.

Indiana Jones Kenner line ... I had to have the arabian horse but I don't care if I get the playsets or truck for the line.

pretty much I'm just a figure collector and not the whole line kind of collector. and besides the He man Line I want to get all the figures from the lines I collect

some vehicles and playsets. Most of my stuff deal with the 3 3/4" action figures. However in looking back with a few (well quite a few) exceptions, most of the time I would get the vehicels so I could get whatever stupid driver they only sold with it

If you do not really have the space and funds, skip the playsets or vehicles, unless one
of them really speaks out to you

                      I like just the figures.
Although I do own a few vehicles,I do not display them.
Prefer to have the figures on a shelf.
I would like to get some small vehicles though.
                      Like a Batcycle for Batgirl.
                      That I could like.

The Mego sets and vehicles are just too cool not to have if you're collecting. The toys themselves are great and the packaging is magnificent.

Ironically for me, the MEGO WGSH playsets and vehicles don't matter too much, probably because I had so few as a kid anyhow. I'd love to get a Batcopter and of course a Wayne Foundation would be lovely! But generally when it comes down to it, I'd rather spend my money and time on getting more figures instead.

When it comes to some other lines, like vintage Star Wars, Micronauts, G.I. Joe, etc., I am much more interested in the vehicles and feel almost equally stong about them as I do the action figures in the line.

Basically I mean, a Mego Superman or Batman or Green Arrow look pretty cool all on their own. But a TIE Fighter Pilot, X-Wing Pilot or Time Traveler figure look kinda small and insignificant until you display them inside a cool vehicle!

It's love mixed in with the gut punch of reality.

I think playsets are as cool as action figures, I love them but I'm not blessed with the space to display them all.

I love them both. I have a special place in my heart for the Mego POTA Tree House. However, figures are definitely easier to display.
