I didn't have any digi pictures of the new Stangs or GNX to upload from this PC. Those pictures are on actual film and stashed away. I can pull them out and scan them if you really want to see them. You have a very nice Mustang and please understand that I grew up with the vintage muscle cars (my first car was a 69 Roadrunner, non original 440, 4 speed, 4:10 Sure Grip that I bought at age 15) but the modern ones will blow the doors off anything old in stock form. If both are modified the end result is still the same. Heck even a 2003-2005 Neon SRT4 ran a 13.8 and that's just a little Turbo 4 banger!
The same goes for vintage motorcycles. I have a nice sized collection of old Kawis. Most are the triple 2 strokers, 8 of them are H2s. The H2 750 was king of the hill in the 70s. Would blow away any other bike in the quarter and even the Z1 900 depending on rider skill. Now days a modern 600 will wipe an H2 out in a drag race. I own them for other reasons not because they are fast. If I want the fastest I can sell everything and buy a couple ZX14s and run in the 9s right off the show room floor.
Back in the first muscle car era most were 15 second cars with a few that would run 14s or high 13s such as Hemis, 440-6 packs, LS5 and 6 Chevelles, GSX, SCRamblers and 390 AMXs, Boss 429s, SCJ 428s, you get the picture. Your bread and butter 383 Roadrunners, 396 Chevelles, 389 Goats, 351 Mach Is, etc were not that fast untill you started tossing some money at aftermarket parts.
I won't argue with you and your car is very, very nice but there are quite a few new cars that will take you in the 1/4 mile. And you don't have to take my word for it. Go look up some recent tests and you will see that quite a few run in the 12s totally stock! The guys around here running on the bottle are producing in excess of 800 HP. Most are making near 1000 on the bottle and 6-700 without the juice.
Have you run your car down the strip? I would be curious to know what kind of numbers you get in both times and trap speeds.
Please do not think I am dissing your car as that is the farthest thing from my mind. As I said your Mustang is beautiful and you did a fantastic job restoring it! I love the old gen muscle cars as they had style and personality but technology has come so far since then that just FI itself has made a world of difference.
PS, one of our customers owns the first 1970 Boss 429 to come off the line. He paid about $250,000 for it 4 or 5 years ago and has a huge collection of Mr. Norm cars too. And yes, he is loaded!

Funny that this thread came up but I wouldn't waste a dime on your Purple Rain buddy keep that car the way it is or sell to a chicky. Get something thats gonna be worth it bro 87-93 mustang are a dime a dozen and can find really good parts cheap and can some serious HP quick. Heck even by getting a 03-04 Cobra supercharged and with little mods can be in the 600+HP quickly.Stay away for the Buick GN as well because I got hook and it never ended heres mine little V6 with 650hp. Just finished it in March this year and is a head turner!!!

Well with the 351 c trickflow heads , forged pistons, roller rockers .550 lift cam 650 holley DP shaved and milled 9inch rear with 4:11. All msd, We turned an 11.26 on one pass and I got a little side ways out the door. We were then told politely to leave because of no roll bar. I have no doubt that in 3 passes I could hit low 10's with out the bottle.Comment

Here is a good place to see what I am talking about.
Drag Racing 1/4 Mile times 0-60 Dyno Fast Cars Muscle Cars - DragTimes.com
2007 Ford Mustang Shelby-GT500 1/4 mile trap speeds 0-60 - DragTimes.com
And here is a great illistration of what I am saying. A 2007 Mustang Shelby GT500 running a 10.9 no bottle, mostly stock (factory supercharged), and a 4000 pound car. Great shot of it pulling the front wheels too!
I grew up at Byron Drag Strip and around drag racers including running my own cars and bikes. I really do know what I am talking about and could tell you a ton of ways to squeeze a bunch more HP out of your 351. Best thing you could do is swith to FI and bolt on a set of Dart or Edelbrock aluminum heads to start. Looking at your car I would guess it wasn't built to be a drag car as much as a very nice street car but there is sooooo much ood stuff out there for the SB Ford and Chevy engines at very good prices. I could show pictures of my hot rod Kaw (H1-500 bike with an H2-750 engine, huge V Force 12 petal reeds, 40mm Lectron carbs, etc-runs high 9s all day long in street trim) but I am sure I have already bored the heck out of everyone here.
Scroll down and check out some of these engines. And this is just what Ford has.

And this baby would get you into the low 10s and maybe the 9s with some drive line and suspension upgrades.
Ford Racing Performance Parts - [Part Details]
Now imagine that engine in a newer Mustang GT.
I guess to sum it up I am saying please do not sell the modern day muscle cars short. They are faster then heck in stock form and are light years ahead of the old cast iron V8s for performance. That being said I still want another 68 GTX 440-4 speed!!

I worked for a Buick dealer in the mid to late 80's and had fun test driving those monsters.
