I don't think you were out of line. As long as you didn't start cussing out the other rude passenger I think you did the right thing. I most likely would have done that too. And good job being polite and offering up your seat.

I still offer my seat, even though I've reached the age when there are plenty of younger people who should know better. I often see elderly people look for a seat, but young people rarely get up, they even find it funny when an old person almost falls over when the bus stops or starts.
It comforts me to think that it will be these youngsters who will take care of me when I'm old...

Wow, you must live in a really nasty place

The kids around here can be buttholes sometimes, but they're not that nasty.

Over here, kids on the bus are the perfect example of "what not to do".
Music blasting away, dirty sneakers on the seats in front of them, backpacks on the seat next to them.
When you want the "empty" seat, they look at you and say "hey, where am I going to put my stuff, I can't move it."
At which point I wait until the bus stops next, grab their backpack and chuck it out on the pavement. Before they get a chance to recover it, the bus is long gone, leaving them (and their crap) behind.
          True story.

I always offer my seat to any woman , it's the right thing to do...at least that's the way I was brought up....I see this every time i go to Disney world...all these women with babies or older people standing and no one offers crap...it really ticks me off

LOL...I've thrown the bag to the back of the bus or just sat on it but never out the door...LOL
              That's really funny..
