Lucas is planning anew Star Wars TV show

I hope Jar Jar is in this one.

    LOS ANGELES —

The Force may soon be coming to a television near you.

George Lucas is planning a live-action television series spinoff of the "Star Wars" film franchise.

Lucas told The Los Angeles Times he has "just begun work" on the series, which will not include the films' major characters Luke Skywalker or Darth Vader.

"The Skywalkers aren't in it, and it's about minor characters," Lucas told the Times on Tuesday.

Lucas wouldn't reveal details, but joked that the series would be about "the life of robots."

Lucas, 63, already has another television series in the works. Lucasfilm Animation has been working for months on the computer-animated "Star Wars: The Clone Wars."

^^ George will croak and the kids will waste it away in a few years.

I wonder how Star Wars will translate to the small screen. Recent shows like Battlestar Gallactica on tv and at the movies, Transformers and Batman Begins, have found an audience by becoming edgier than their source material.

It's hard to see Star Wars becoming "edgy".

It could be fun though if it's got a story... hope they're not relying on their blue-screen razzle-dazzle to keep folks coming back.

It was the great stories in the first trilogy that I loved.

What can I say... I'm 100% Fanboi and I'm excited as all get out.

It's a dream of mine that at some point, someone will do a CGI or traditional animated movie(s)/tvshow of Zahn's Thrawn trilogy.

There's 2 hours of my life I can't get back (actually 4 hours since I saw it in 1978 and again on a bootleg copy 5 years ago) but I still like the cartoon segment with Fett

I am in a wait and see on this I was pleased with ROTS and even the animated clone wars but I have been more often disapointed with post trology stuff

That dog of a Christmas special is a Holiday tradition around this house! Well, it's just me watching every year... the wife can't take it, but dang it, it's still tradition! I make hot chocolate spiked with Kaluha and Peppermint Schnaps and get my Geek on!

The holiday special is one of my childhood traumas.

We were visitng my grandmother, and she only had 1 BW TV. I wanted to watch the Star Wars show, but I was outvoted because Different Strokes was on and everyone wanted to watch it. I was told I could watch the Star Wars special next year.

To this date I have not seen this show. i know I can grab it off youtube, but I'm too lazy I guess.

I'm looking foward to it! One thing dissapoints Me though...I know Lucas has said We wouldn't see any of the Main Characters...but I thought We would at least see Darth Vader, since it's all about the Empire taking control of the Republic...between Episodes 3-4. But recently Lucas has stated...no Darth Vader!
