The Yellow Submarine had a great cold open that set up the entire movie

Raiders is the best opening ever.

BUT The beginings of both Dawn of the Dead and Day of the dead are off the hook!

When we first see Deckard in Blade Runner!

Deckard: "They don't advertise for killers in the newspaper. That was my profession. Ex-cop. Ex-blade runner". Ex-killer.

I love the whole Film Noir aspect of Blade Runner. It combines SiFi with Phillip Marlow, and Sam Spade.

The opening sequence to Django,he is walking in the rain dragging that coffin.
another great one is the opening of Mad Max(the first one) when the Night rider is blazing down the highway outrunning the Bronze laughing maniacally.

Now that you mentioned the unmentionable you do realize Thomas is going to post a picture of Connery in his little red speedo and black hooker boots right...

I thought that there might be other 'fans'- if that is the right term, on this forum

It does have an awesome opening though

I always Liked Jaws ..., With the Underwater, and the music that set the tone.

Desperado how it starts out with Cheech and the bar scene, where they Explain what The "Big Mexican" did, was neat ....

Shoot em Up just started off with a Bang, and never did stop.

                        Predator ...
You get to meet all the " Bad Arses" some of which were the best of the best in 87 ...., and then the whole flick went Sci-Fi ...., which was totally in a different direction .

Any Terminator Flick ...., I love the Music, and the intro .

Die Hard 2 was neat ...., Bruce starts off getting a Parking ticket, and his Mother-in-Laws car towed .... Then in Die Hard 4, the Whole Interaction with Sam Jackson, was Priceless.
... The Original Knight ..., Often Imitated, However Never Duplicated. The 1st Knight in Customs.

By way of atonement for helping to unleash the red diaper avalanche, here are some other great movie openings:
Scanners, The Wild Bunch, and already mentioned by others, Goodfellas.
I recently watched The Ghost Writer, which has a really great opening shot and is a very watchable movie too
