Mc Donalds Question

I actually like McRibs and I like McDonald's. Even though the menu has changed considerably, and "I'm Lovin' It" replaced "You Deserve A Break Today", and "We Do It All For You" as the catchphrase, when I do eat at McD's, it's for the pure nostalgia factor. I like to remember when it was all about McDonaldland, the premiums like glasses, calendars and Hamburglar dolls, and walking 10 blocks from my apartment w/ my mom back when it was still a treat, not a convenience. I even worked for the Golden Arches briefly when I first got outta high school in '84. And yeah, I know that the food has a higher sugar content than a lotta fast food, and that the shakes aren't real milk, and the patties are getting smaller, and that all kids care about is that prize in the Happy Meal. But it's not like I get a steady diet of the stuff. For me, it's still a treat. And sometimes when I eat a Quarter Pounder, it's like going back in time. The premiums aren't the same, but it's still fun to get one sometimes, and remember that Big Mac coin purse around my wrist. And when I take a little kid, I remember holding Mom's hand walking those 10 blocks.

If you look at it from that perspective, McD's isn't so bad after all.

I know you meant that as a joke, Mikey... But what's interesting is how the masses flock to McDonalds regardless of what they're pushing. Case in point; Have you ever tried a McRib? I mean, c'mon... Is there any real meat in that thing at all??? I dunno, I just think it's funny. LOL I mean, I love McDonalds as much any American, and treat myself to a #2 breakfast once a week, but I just think the whole thing is really funny.

If you haven't seen "Supersize Me", go get it. It's absolutely fascinating... Again though, what's funny about that whole thing, is even though that film is VERY "anti McDonalds" and clearly shows how incredibly bad that food is for you, the first thing I did after I watched it, was go get a big mac. I'm totally serious... The film, even though it doesn't do it consciously, lavishly illustrates the wonderfully nostalgic virtues of the establishment.

As a matter of fact, I'm gonna get in my truck right now, and go get a #2!!!

Stuff that is unhealthy and contains unusable items is usually rejected by the body.

That's been my situation with Taco Bell lately....and my love for thier .89 cent 5 layer burritos. Those things taste good to me going in....but don't stay more than an hour or so ....how the hell does that happen anyways????

When I go to Micky Dees.. I usually get two regular double cheesburgers...it's a much heartier meal than a Big Mac...and cheaper too...only $1 a piece.

And if I just wanna get a single burger...I'll make it a Double Quarter Pounder.

Of course I should have guessed that they are not made in America. What is these days? I am surprised that the meat does not come from China to.

Last time I checked, Brazil, Argentina, and Uruguay...were part of the Americas...

McDonald's burgers are not made from american cows.

They import their beef from Brazil, Argentina and Uruguay.

If you take a good look at their cow to person population in their countries, you'll see that cows outnumber humans.

Time out. This is a logic thing.

While one should scratch their head that a beef rich country like the US would import beef from anywhere else, that statement needs some clarification.

While they do import beef from other countries, that only makes up a very small percentage of the beef they use. None of it comes from South America, but the small percentage comes from New Zealand and Australia and that is ONLY because they can't get enough lean US beef to cover their demand. Prior to 2002 it ALL came from the US. (By the way, McDonald's is the Nation's largest purchaser of US Beef. That is easily verified and totally contradicts the claim.)

So, some McDonald's burgers are not made from American Cows, but most of them are.

I know, I know.

Historically, I have a lot of love for the Mac. The one I got still tasted like they did back in the day. My hang-up is the durned thing being only about 4-inches across and costing about 3 bucks.

I love the classic regular hamburger and cheeseburger at McDonald's and the fries are still great. Adjusted for anything you can account for they are still very approximate to what I remember as a kid.

I can't extend that appreciation to the Big Mac these days. Too little for too much. (Twice as much for two-thirds of the size I remember).
