Can't anybody produce new figures in the free world?

Just curious, does it all have to come from china? I hate buying **** from china, but I will if it's not offered any place else, which seems to be the case on most things these days.

BK makes some pretty sweet figures, and they are hand made from scratch.

China has the cheapest labor rate at the moment and has for some time so they end up being the winners. I really hate the idea of buying stuff made from China as well. It helps China create jobs while the USA continues to go to hell in a hand basket.

Too much space. Need more toys!

I went to Walgreen's to buy my son a new hair brush and decided to see if I could find one made anywhere but China. 2 dozen brushes and only one was not made in China.

It is not that I have anything against China or their production practices, it was just a simple observational study. I ended up buying a brush made in China...

I don't know if anyone else here follows the Glyos line of figures. They are an artist based line who does produce their figures in China, and on their blog they had cool photos of what the production looks like.

It'll open your eyes, for sure.

When I look at old Corgi's and underneath it say's MADE IN GT BRITAIN it just makes the toy seem that much more special than Chinese made junk.

                    YES, a VERY GOOD THREAD.
Our household does not like buying from China and we check everything every time we shop. The only things I buy so far the collectible toys.

I asked around about making toys in the USA. IT CAN BE done but expensive.
However, we have been going to crafts fairs, which of course a lot of the source materials are made in China but some can be allocated from Mexico and other countries. We ALWAYS ask about the source material.
I think the best way for now is what CAPTAIN MEGO, BlackKnight, BOSS, TYPE3TOYS, Austin and DOC MEGO do and that is make your own or cast your own.
Better yet, buy from them to support the USA. Their stuff belongs in shops and if there were a less expensive way to make on a production line, then the better. Finding cheap labor and I'm' sure it can be found but it's a matter of looking.
I would LOVE to see a USA MEGO type company manufacture out of the US and not overseas.

As China products, I'm ****ed that VANS are no longer made in Pacoima, CA and that Chuck Taylor Converse are no longer made here in the US. I hate that NIKE passes off their shoes in PORTLAND as being made in the USA when they aren't.
LEVI's are made in CHINA!!! I now buy LEE's which are better. USA MADE.
You can find products made in the USA. Like brushes, I wouldn't shop at big name pharmacy type stores, we hit the PCC's or farmers market or craft markets, boutiques or indy shops. Ask and look. You'll be surprised on how many NON-CHINA products there really are.

As for now, I am still buying toys made in china but what can you do?

Makes sense for a LARGE scale. You need to work out of a garage or basement in small scale like Apple did with MACs.
I think it can be done.

Yeah, here's a laugher. A friend of mine works for a company that gets some products made in China and he entertains the China big wigs from time to time when they are in the states. So he takes them to PA Dutch country in Lancaster, PA and they buy some "authentic Amish handcrafted" items. On the way back he hears them laughing in the back of the van and asks them what is so funny. You guessed it. Some of the stuff had "Made in China" stickers on them. You know it's a problem when the Amish, who are known for their handcrafted items, are farming them out to China.
