    --- Jury Duty scam ---

Just got this email from a buddy .....

Pass this on to your grown children. This has been verified by the FBI
(their link is also included below). Please pass this on to everyone in your
email address book. It is spreading fast so be prepared should you get this
call. Most of us take those summonses for jury duty seriously, but enough
people skip out on their civic duty that a new and ominous kind of fraud has
    surfaced.

The caller claims to be a jury DUTY coordinator. If you protest that you
never received a summons for jury duty, the scammer asks you for your Social
Security number and date of birth so he or she can verify the information
and cancel the arrest warrant. Give out any of this information and bingo,
    your identity was just stolen.

The fraud has been reported so far in 11 states, including Oklahoma ,
Illinois, and Colorado . This (swindle) is particularly insidious because
they use intimidation over the phone to try to bully people into giving
information by pretending they are with the court system.

The FBI and the federal court system have issued nationwide alerts on their
web sites , warning consumers about the fraud.

Thanks Mike! Someone out there is always looking to scam someone. It does make one wonder what kind of angle will they try next.

Just when I thought people had run out of ideas. Identity theft is a big issue. Has taken my wife years to reestablish her identity after. Thanks for the heads up.

The last time I left and went on one of my excursions I came back to some fraudulent activity to deal with. How fun? Long story short it screwed up my PayPal account, I had to cancel one of my debit cards. This has put a small damper on my Mego buying sprees here in the market place.

The kicker is that I still have to deal with Experian as that is who Pain Pal uses to verify accounts. The bad part about that is I am?? or was?? a verified premier business account member with lots and lots of transactions. What a big pain in the arse. All because some dead beat out there is too lazy to work.

OH man. New scams all the time.

I just want to add that you should never even give a PART of your social security number out. Some of your number is just comprised of general information that people can find out about you easily - like your birth date. So if they just have part it's still possible for them to get the whole thing.
