and below are the rules for Belgium:

Don't snap your fingers if you are with a Belgian. It may be interpreted as impolite

And avoid discussing personal matters or linguistic and political divisions within Belgium between Dutch and French speakers
Talk about rude I had to listen to a woman break the news of a family members death while shoppping with her little girl. I was at Toys R us of course :-)

It was "Cell Yell" %100 percent.

Not an emergency, not a tragedy. It could have waited till she was home. ( three isles in either direction and I could hear everything remember.

Yet if I had told her I am sorry for her loss but would rather not hear about it in the toy store I would have been called a Jerk.

Yeah, as Rik already said, the Flemish and the Walloons will never be best friends

Likewise I'm sure they Identify with being American.
Just proud of my heritage and country.
          Besides everybody loves Canadians...
I could think of a few places where being Identified as an American could be life threatening and who wants that pressure when you are travelling?
Then again saying you are Canadian when they think you are American would they really believe you anyway???

I think two things to add to the list of things not to do in other countries would be don't ask Americans about gun control and don't ask Canadians about the 95 referendum.
They would know by the tip you left.
