American Collectors classic car insurance also covers toys/collectibles

My Mustang has liability coverage through Allstate...but their full coverage fees for classic cars are astronomical.

Hagerty Collector Car insurance specializes in classic cars...but will not cover my ride because I don't have an enclosed garage...they won't accept my private gated two-car carport.

American Collectors might...but at a higher rate than Hagerty...but still cheaper than Allstate.

But oh my friends...this thread is not about cars per say...but for toys...

After browsing through their site...I discovered that they also offer insurance for collectibles...which includes toys...

What We Insure | American Collectors Insurance

This is a way better way than your average home insurance policy...this is for a particular specific thing...your precious collectibles.

You might loose your collection via fire, flood, hurricane, theft, earthquake, etc...American Collectors will not ask why...they will just pay...

I might combine both the car and my Superman collection...because you just never know...

Gundy also insists the car is stored in a building (even if a barn or steel pole building)

my assumption is this is to reduce damage due to wind (ie blowing branches) or hail

I'm still waiting on American Collectors final response...they said it varies from state to state...that depending where you live...they might take carport customers...

My present house and car insurer...Allstate...has liability coverage on my Mustang.

They will fully cover my ride with a carport (I have to have the car independently appraised by a second party though)...but at $400 to $500 more every policy cycle (twice a year)...that's just bloody robbery...and I have a perfect driving record...perfect...

I just say hey you have one. It's basically for theft if it happens at the house. And if it's stolen at the house, well I'm sure you can figure out what to do.........

Someone stealing my ride at my house is highly unlikely.

I have been living there for 18 years...and not even one single kid has jumped over the fence and stolen anything.

Plus aside from the motorized gate...the car has an alarm, a kill switch, and a Club...plus my bedroom is right next to it...I'm just missing a dog...lol.

That's why my arcade Galaga machine sits pretty in my open deck...lol.

I'm more worried when I do take out the Stang for rides...I'm worry about accidents...and the occasional unguarded street parking...like a quick beer run...lol.

I just got bad news from American Collectors:

"We do require for vehicles we insure to be kept in a completely enclosed locked garage. However, we do provide coverage for vehicles kept in "alternate garaging situations".

I guess I'm forced to stick with Allstate...they will allow a carport...but aside from my present liability coverage...it's going to be close to an extra $800 year for full coverage on a classic car...
