Wow! I do not even remember when I got my first DVD player. It has been soooo long ago. Let alone the first movie title I actually watched. I really want to say that it was an amateur movie. A "really good" amateur movie.

Long story short I was doing some fun work on the side for a gal who wanted her own web site. I told her that I dabble with web sites and could help her out. So I was basically doing some trading with her and we both got what we wanted.

Best in Show. Followed by a super-quick buying spree that included Waiting for Guffman, The Matrix, Braveheart, The Sixth Sense, and Se7en.

I bought The Wild Bunch and Romero's Day of the Dead before I got my DVD player. Also Enemy at the Gates, which is now on the 'DVDs I never bother to watch' shelf in my apartment

Planet of the Apes box set followed by some Space:1999. I didn't get a DVD player for a long time after and honestly, I'm not switching formats again in this lifetime.

That was a really early one for me too - and it still holds up as one of my favorite DVDs - design-wise, extra feature-wise, packaging-wise - all great.

Very true, Fox really went all out with that one, in an era when there weren't many SE DVDs like that. And over 10 years later, I still don't think I got through all the extras yet.

Those are definitely both awesome box sets there to start out with.

Seems like just about the time most peeps get their entire collection built up then comes yet "another" format change.

I've no idea but I'm guessing it was something Disney or animated for the kids.
