You are a bold and courageous person, afraid of nothing. High on a hill top near your home, there stands a dilapidated old mansion. Some say the place is haunted, but you don't believe in such myths. One dark and stormy night, a light appears in the topmost window in the tower of the old house. You decide to investigate... and you never return... -
I am always behind the times with technology. I don't own any type of iPod or MP3 player, just purchased my own laptop this year, and my first Flat Screen two years ago for the Olympics. I'm pretty sure my first dvd was a Disney flick....Peter Pan or one of the other classics that Disney released when they decided to accept it as standard. I know I justified the purchase in my mind by purchasing a Disney flick (even though I'm sure I have the same movie in VHS)."The farther we go, the more the ultimate explanation recedes from us, and all we have left is faith."

I bought my first 4 DVD's when I was visiting Toronto. Didn't even have a DVD player yet at that timeNor did I know about different regions. Luckily my DVD player plays all regions. The first 4 were a limilted edition Army of Darkness with Book of the Dead, The House of Usher (with Vincent Price), Dracula (with Lugosi), but I can't remember the 4th one

Consider how expensive DVDs were when they first came out, I bought my DVD player with intensions of borrowing movies from friends and renting flicks at Blockbuster. After a week I was done and went to Best Buy.
I bought Metropolis and Night of the Living Dead. Two movies that one could argue would not benefit in the least from the new tech.
It'd be like buying those flicks to watch on a bluray player today. It's ok though. They were cheap, and I freakin love those flicks.
I then joined Columbiahouse, and stocked my shelf.~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

The first one I bought (before I had a DVD player) was the Criterion edition of John Woo's HARD BOILED. It had already gone out of print (that and the Criterion edition of Woo's THE KILLER went out of print really fast), but I found one at a store and bought it to sell on ebay. The first DVD I owned to keep was the special edition of FIGHT CLUB.
My first VHS (official prerecord, not a copy) was THE CABINET OF DR. CALIGARI, my first laserdisc was the boxset of THE ABYSS and my first Blu-ray was CRANK. I don't know why I remember this stuff but forget what I need to buy when I go to the grocery store.Last edited by cjefferys; Aug 7, '10, 9:25 AM.Comment

Jason and the Argonauts.
I actually bought DVDs one year before getting a player.
Once I got that, I had a selection to choose from, instead of like, two..

I was one of the first on DVD bandwagon in summer of 1998 cause I had money to burn in those days. I bought my Toshiba first generation player payed I think around $600 dollars and I got Lethal Weapon 2 DVD as my first film. remember DVD's in those days were like 30 to 50 bucks a pop and the selection was pretty skimpyLast edited by kennermike; Aug 7, '10, 12:43 PM.Comment
