'Doctor Who: The Five Doctors' was the first DVD I bought

The first VHS video I ever got was 'The Adventures of Robin Hood' with Errol flynn. My 1st wife bought it for me for my birthday, and we didn't own a VCR yet, we borrowed her sister's for the weekend. I think it was like $39.99 back then...remember when videos releases were like $50-150 so everybody rented them at the local mom & pop store, and all the local grocery stores had a video rental rack?

Oh jeez - I'm pretty sure I got Hitchcock's "The 39 Steps" and Kurosawa's "Seven Samurai". I know they were Criterion discs because they were so damn expensive.

I didn't even own a DVD player yet. I think I ended up watching them at my buddies place!

it was either a simitar version (those had the black boxes with just the film name on the cover) for a jacki chan film or twelve monkeys. This was either in 1997 or 98
