How do you post videos on YouTube?

Seriously, I want to know. I was thinking about posting some rare footage of Rick Springfield (but only leaving it up for a limited time, I don't wanna get booted), but I don't know how. And when replying, remember, I'm technologically impaired.

    Thanks.

Yes, I can see I believe that it's magic

Is it safe to assume you don't actually have them on your computer? What format are we starting with?

So when you state booted, you must be implying as to not getting your YouTube about suspended for posting copyrighted material?
If that's the case, you have to question your asset. If it's sourced from a bootleg origin then it shouldn't be an issue but if it's the actual asset that belongs to label, ie a music video with the audio tracks from the actual album, then YT will notify you of the material being copyrighted.
Of course there are ways around this issue.

Just out of curiosity, since it's Rick Springfield, would you happen to have clean superior digital copies of his music videos, namely Human Touch and others. Without logos, chyroning or branding? I'm not worried about the audio since I can remaster it, just the video needs to be broadcast quality.

No, JP, I know how to put links in my post. I wanted to know how to post vids on YouTube itself.

This is a bootleg thing from IOffer.com It is Rick's first appearance on network TV in 1972 on the Sonny and Cher show. (When he was still sporting the long hair and Aussie accent!) I can't believe I found this, as it was the first time I saw Rick (before Mission: Magic even!), when I was 6 years old.

Sorry Ealdrett, I don't have a collection of Rick vids.

You'll want to do a Google search for "DVD ripper" or "convert DVD to AVI." You can also look at this page which recommends a program called AutoGK.

AutoGK - Video software and downloads - VideoHelp.com

Bear in mind, it's a slow process to convert, especially if you have an older computer.

What platform are you running? This will depend on what software to use.
As for encoding I would go with .mov files or high res mp4 which would take you up to 720x480 since it's standard def source. Upscale won't make it any clearer.

If you want to send it to me I can clean it up and encode for you and burn on a data disc so all you would have to do is upload from the disc. And no, I won't make a copy. Not a big fan. I only asked about his vids for our work archive.

Go to youtube and search ealdrett. You will see the quality of the videos I've remastered and cleaned up.

I think you need to call up YouTube and have them come videotape whatever you want to put up there. I keep a YouTube cameraman around me at all times just in case I fall down or get hit in the groin at work.

See my original post above. I have NO idea what you're talking about. I need YouTube for Dummies.

I have an older PC (almost 9 years), so I guess this won't work for me. Thanks anyway.
