The time we are living in is just like the 70's was for adults

As a kid, the 70's were great for most. For many of our parents, they were a time of economic malaise, increased joblessness, distrust of our Government and cynicism.

Isn't it something that now, we are experiencing a lot of what was experienced in the adult realm in the late 70's?

    Everything is so cyclical.

I must agree. The biggest difference I think though is that with that first round this second round is even more cynical, especially being so far removed from say that early to mid 20th century "American Dream" ideal lifestyle.

Not being political here but I do see a similarity in the Presidents.

The GWBush years was like the Nixon/Ford years and Obama seems to be like Jimmy Carter.

Yeah it all goes in circles... just like Eisenhower into Johnson (Kennedy is a fuzzy spot sorta)... Or take it way back... Buchanan to Lincoln

Whist I Batched a friend pointed out all things have life spans. Even societies. What worries me is the "all the eggs in one basket" thing the planet has going on Humanwise.

                            Hmmmm....

I've noticed we've been living the same twenty years over and over for a while.... before any of us were born even. (I can trace the patterns back to the beginning of the 1900's, but after that it's tricky to get a lot of "averge person" data to process.) The 00's were the 80's again, the 90's the 70's.... Politics, entertainment, world events.... it all cycles. Only the magnitude changes.

                            >this second round is even more cynical

I disagree. I think it SEEMS that way 'cos you're actually in the mix this time, whereas last time you were a kid and not really aware of what was going on. (And it's more than the second time around.)

They need to start re-airing "All in the Family". I've been watching those box sets and alot of the story lines are relevant once more.
