Archie Bunker and the toilet sound

One of the more dubious firsts on TV for All In The Family is having the sound of the toilet flushing in some episodes.

But have you ever listened to it?

It doesn't sound like a regular joe toilet.

It sounds like one of those powerful turbo toilets that you would find in a restaurant or other public place.

It always struck me funny that Archie might have one of these:

I watched an episode a few years ago where they were driving the General Lee up a water soaked alley, in reverse, and instead of leaving a trail of water, the tires were erasing the water trail. Pretty easy to tell the footage was shot in drive and played like they were running in reverse. (first season, episode 12... "Route 7-11".)

Funny how you miss that kind of stuff as a kid.
