I think many martial artists would agree that fighting is a last resort, and running (or simply walking away from a confrontation) is often the smartest option.

I was my brothers sparring dummy when I was a kid. He was involved in Judo and some Wing Chun and I picked up a little from him. Took Shorin Ryu Karate when I got a little older, switched to Hapkido then I met this dude; http://thomascruse.com/site/. He is a JKD instructor. That style fit me pretty well, but unfortunately, I've had trouble finding instructors since then.
Of all the souls I have encountered his was the most...human.
