"Through the Wormhole" with Morgan Freeman

This a great show for all the science fans like myself. Morgan Freeman seems like an odd host though. He starts every show hands crossed in the same rigid earnest posture, somewhat channeling Rod Serling. With the glimmer of his gold hoop earring flanking his tufts of grey hair, Morgan starts every show with a story of his humble childhood in Mississippi. Since it's my own home state, I'm always a little sucked in. Each tale starts with little Morgan burning ants with a magnifying glass or farting in church and pondering the universal implications of such events. All the while, the camera zooms in on the weird freckles/moles on his face.

Is it because he played God in a movie once?

I know this is a real show but that description was like a SNL parody.
