I saw that. The article was a bit vague as to what was traded for what to end up with the porsche (I remember the paper clip thing and how each trade was completed).
Did I read correctly that he spent at least 6 hours online everyday for a couple of years to finally end up with it? Even at minimum wage, he could have just worked at McDonald's and saved up enough money to pay for it outright plus some."The farther we go, the more the ultimate explanation recedes from us, and all we have left is faith."

awesome, but good luck keeping up with that car
they jip you just for a tune up
but still pretty impressive, I don't think he'll get the Escalade unless it's crap but he could get a nice car"Time to nut up or shut up"-Tallahassee

I remember the paper clip story as well.
So who here wants to start? I have a paper clip that I would be willing to trade.Enjoy what you like, and let others enjoy what they like. (C) Azrak 2009

If my math is right he spent 5 hours a day on the internet according to the story. Minimum wage in California is $8 and hour so that's $40 a day or $210 per week. One year is roughly $10,000 and two years which it took to obtain the porche valued at $9,000 is $20,000 in lost opportunity cost. He could have worked for minimum wage, bought the porsche and had $10,000 to spare but this makes front page headlines?"The farther we go, the more the ultimate explanation recedes from us, and all we have left is faith."

I mean, the kid will probably be a fine commodities broker, but still.
Even the paperclip story - not only did the news stories not break down the time cost, but if you flip the story around it changes. That guy started a small viral campaign which gained huge national, even international exposure. Had he been doing that same work for a private company as media promotion it's the type of thing a corporation would kill to pay for - you just can't buy it. If red paperclip guy had been private sector suit, he could have bought that house nine times over with his paycheck and bonus.
Romantic idea though. I have a T2 tinman arm, who has a Wayne Foundation?Comment
