Meatloaf in the 70s

I know some of you have experienced this singer in the late 70s.
Dont really care what some of you might think of him today.
Just wanted to hear bout some real fans from the 70s.
I remember a tv special from that time.
Was the first time i heard anything as honest .

I LOVED Meat Loaf in the 70's. THE song to listen to, of course, was "Paradise by the dashboard light". That song was really THE soundtrack to getting laid. As much as KISS' Rockn'roll all Nite was the perfect party song, alot of us "old timers" looked to 'Paradise' as our ideal song for parking. THAT was also the irony when you consider his appearance. Seeing Meat Loaf was so different from hearing him. The first time I heard him on the radio, I envisioned this scruffy guy that looked something like Gordon Lightfoot. Then when I saw him I must have wiped my eyes three or four times. I'm sure my thought was, "THIS is Meat Loaf? Oh, okay. I get it. The name is a literal translation." But his performance was so energetic, I got past his "non-rock" look and started to see his appearance as just another anti-establishment image right in line with other rock stars. Some here may also remember that part of his notoriety came from playing a part in the "Rocky Horror Picture Show."
Bat out of Hell was one of the definitive albums of the 70's, so it was a welcome sight to see him return many years ago with Bat out of Hell II and III. But NOTHING served as a bigger kick for me personally until I saw him in this commercial.

Hmmmm....

I'm a huge fan, but don't care so much for his 70's stuff. Which is weird 'cos his later stuff isn't that different. (MOST of it, anyhoo.) I think it's the subject matter. I'm not big on the whole male/female/relationship thing.

I've been a huge fan since seeing them on SNL in early 1978. I went out and bought the album the following weekend. Bat Out Of Hell is one of the few albums that I rate a perfect 10/10. I have every album ever recorded by Meat Loaf, Jim Steinman, Karla DeVito, and Ellen Foley. I also have quite a few live bootlegs.

The only album I don't like is the new one. I know that Meat was having major vocal problems on the last tour, I guess that's why he shouts/talks through songs now instead of actually singing them. I am so disappointed in the new album, there wasn't a single song that I liked. It's my least favorite Metal Loaf album ever.

So is II and III.
He is coming here on july 27th.
I still love his tunes today.

I was 8 in 1979...so anyways my cousin had the BAT album...I remember
thinking it had a cool cover. The MUSIC? I dunno. It's surely a big part of
rock history.
