Can anyone here read Japanese ?

My nephew got me this bandanna on a trip to Japan a while ago and I always wondered what it said --- or even if it said anything at all.

    Thanks

Ok, I showed my wife, who immediately started laughing because the picture is upside down. It says "kamikaze" which literally means "divine wind", but I'm sure everyone knows who wore headbands like that in oh, say the 1940's. I wouldn't recommend wearing that if you decide to take flying lessons one day.

anyone remember back in the 80's it huge fashion trend to wear T Shirts with Asian writing? My mom, ever the trend hound back in the day wore one on a day we went to Flushing to an international newstand my father frequented to pick up the paper from Montevideo.

Now, this newstand was located near a Chinese knockoff store. I got quite a few knockoffs there as a kid (mostly transformers and Voltron). Got my first Nintendo Watch and Game there too (Popeye.)

So anyway, my mom walks in wearing her oh so trendy shirt, and the people behind the counter giggle. Finally one of the younger fellas walk up to her and asks her about her shirt, and asks if she knows what it says. Shes says no. He tells her.

She never wears the shirt again.

What did it say? Something along the lines of "F* your mother."

                    Gotta love trends.

Just be glad it was a T-shirt trend back then and not the Tattoo trend of today.
