There's lots of ways to do it these days. If you have an Xbox 360 or Playstation 3, it's really easy. Or if your computer runs Media Center, you can use a Media Center extender. I use an extender or my PS3. And there are other devices that work, like this:

        But he specifically said "wireless".

And also, I'm assuming that the computer is going to stay in another room, and he just wanted to access the media on it's hard drive via the television in a different room.

No way that I know of to make a TV completely wireless like that. You will need to have some sort of device hooked up to it. Now the device that is hooked to it can access an existing wireless network and tap media from another device on the same wireless network. But you still need some sort of device connected to the computer. A playstation would work and could tap media from another computer on the same network, wired or wireless for that matter. They can be a little difficult to configure, or so I hear. I tested out an Apple TV box once for a month and it was very easy to configure to my wireless network to tap movies and such from another computer. Quality wasn't up to where I wanted it to be so I sent it back. That was a few years ago so the picture quality has probably improved.

That's gonna change soon. Some companies are already making TVs that can connect wirelessly to a network. I'm sure it will be practically a standard feature in a few years.

I downloaded a program called PS3 Media Server and it works great with the PS3. When you start the program on your computer, the PS3 immediately detects all the hard drives associated with your computer and you can stream practically any media wirelessly to the PS3 connected to the TV. Mine tends to choke on high definition material though, which is why I'm thinking of running an ethernet cable from my computer in the office to the PS3 in the family room. HD streaming would be much more dependable then compared to using a wireless connection.

My brother did something so that he could play music and few pictures of off his computer (that was in one room) on his big screen TV (in another room). It will do a slideshow of whatever folder he chooses and play whatever music he picks with it. Is this kinda what you're after?
