I'm actually going to give Firefly one more try after Angel is finished. Maybe now that I'm comfortable in the Whedonverse it'll take better!

I never Watched Buffy, or Angel past a Couple of Episodes ..., just didn't care much.

I watched the Premier of the New Knight Rider ...., however, never new it was on after that, just didn't warrent a need for me I suppose.

Sorry, Dude, I don't want to come off as whiney, but I am stoked that you want to give it another chance. This is one of those series that I get excited about how it all comes together. It's not flawless, but if you can buy into the world that surrounds it, the characters and stories are fuuuuun.

Moreover, the dialogue is what I find most fascinating. I love dialogue (truth be told, good dialogue will make me dismiss the things I find weak in any production. I.E...Pulp Fiction is a great film....because the GREAT DIALOGUE made me forget the chinks in the armour (my spell check is British and wants me to type "colour" and "armour") of the overall production.

As a Superman nut (duh)...I really desperately wanted to like both Lois & Clark, and Smallville...and I watched many...but to no avail...I just came out of it hating both...more so Smallville...there's no point in watching Superman...if it's only about Kent...sorry...that's a big no-no for me...plus it's too 90210 for my taste. On Lois & Clark, Superman/Kent...was the secondary character...another huge no-no for me.

I just haven't been able to get myself interested in Lost or Heroes. Also, I have never been a fan of Family Guy and have lost interest in the Simpsons after a lot of their writing started taking on a Family Guy flavor (h'mmmmmmm...Family Guy flavor....in his best Homer Simpson voice)
              It's all good!

It's just so boring and slow. One episode had the main dude chasing a fly for 20 minutes. Gimme a break.

I was a late convert to Buffy and Angel, and Firefly really didn't grab me while it was on the air. I had a hard time warming to the blatant cowboy, 18th century production design, and the backwoods patois irritated me. Plus the concept that life would be so primitive in the future seemed weak - at least as presented onscreen. All of that really got in the way for me.

But watching the whole thing on DVD in one big gulp is a religious experience. That's when I really began to appreciate the show. Some great, great stuff in there, and the dialog and character interaction are top notch. Plus, Nathan Fillion's Captain Malcom Reynolds really filled the missing Noble Scoundrel void left by the new Star Wars Trilogy.

And the movie knocks my socks off. It's a perfect blend - action, comedy, emotional punch - deftly plotted and shot. The only weakness it has is that it feels like it's missing a hook for someone who hasn't seen the show; it doesn't bridge the gap between the escape and the two hooking up with the Serenity that the show covered.
