Trejo will be awesome - the political message is great - the problem is Rodriguez - The Grindhouse fake trailer looked grittier, boobier and funnier. He's going to wimp out like he did in Grindhouse.

Rodriguez and Tarantino actually both wimped out with their Grindhouse features. You can't make an exploitation movie with a politically correct message - that's just not how it works. Same way Don Rickles can't apologize to everyone he insults - you're suppose to be insulted - that's the point!

Seagal has always been overrated...even in his prime.

He was choked by a stuntman many years ago...and he defecated in his pants.

Now...he's a slow and fat has been.

Have you seen him in that cop reality show?

        Pathetic...the guy can't even handle a teenager...can't run...he sweats like a pig...and constantly runs outta breath...lol.

I'd place my money on Trejo...he's older and smaller...but he was a fighter too...plus the man saw really hard times in prison, he's a meaner and tougher hombre....or at the very least...he's in much better shape...lol...

I think Rodriguez is a pretentious director...and his films show that.

However...I'm encouraging people to see it...not because of pompous and pretentious Rodriguez...but because of Danny Trejo...a man's man...lol.

We gotta give an actor...one who has been a character actor all his life...and dude who's not exactly Brad Pitt in the looks department...a dude who is a real baddass hombre...we gotta give him a chance...we must support him...we must all transform Trejo into a Hollywood leading man.

          Amen...

          Hector,

My opinion of RR comes from a different perspective. Just to come right out and say what I feel; I personally just haven't liked anything he's ever done. His style is way too over the top for me, and his movies don't have the class, style or ilk of Ridley Scott's work, or Spielberg or David Fincher, or Stanley Kubrick. These are the guys I look up to and am inspired by... Not someone like RR, who makes what I consider to be disposable entertainment at best. "Spy Kids", "From Dusk til Dawn", or "Planet Terror" will not go down in history as great films, I'm sorry. They will never be talked about or referenced in the same breath as "Alien", "Blade Runner", "Star Wars", "Jaws" or "Seven"...

I simply do not like, nor respond to the kind of films RR makes.

"Machete" looks utterly ridiculous to me, I'm sorry. I like Danny Trejo, and think he's been good in the roles he's done. I also totally and completely agree with the fact that a Hispanic leading man like him is a GREAT thing. All I'm saying, is that I wish he would work with a better pedigree of filmmaker and more realistic material.

          Just my 2.

          No disrespect intended to anyone.

Out of all of his work, I would have to say Desperado(and the original, El Mariachi) and From Dusk 'til Dawn are my favourite Rodriguez films

I have the same problem with him - I don't like his work, though I did enjoy From Dusk Til Dawn, The Faculty, and Planet Terror.

What I respect about him is work ethic and his ability to make films that look like they cost much more.

It's the same way I respect Roger Corman. He's got the business side and the ability to get them made down. Unfortunately, the final product doesn't appeal to me much.

Yeah its nice to see a Hispanic action hero and a Luchador (sp) villian.

I love the whole masked westler mythos down in Mexico.

But yeah it is another total summer popcorn movie. The gattling gun on the motorcycle flying 100 feet in the air behind a huge exploding fireball CGI nonsense.

I like RR's films, find 'em a lot of fun and do think that the guy has a great work ethic. While I love recent films such as District 9 and Children of Men, that have brains as well as being just great to watch, I also love trashy stuff like Planet Terror, or Crank 2.
Have to say that the cast of Machete is pretty out there... Segal and De Niro in the same film? That's just crazy!!

Would have loved to get a taco served by Michelle.
