They were the real deal. A lot of good bands had been led down the path of too much eyeliner and overteased big hair. GnR looked like a bunch of skeevy thugs, which seemed a lot truer to the music they were playing. It made all the Poisons, Warrants, Cinderellas, etc. look like a bunch of laughable pansies.

Yeah, Axl is a mega-moron. He proved that over and over. His behavior started several riots, and he let the most popular band in the world dissolve over his ego.

That's the sad part too....because some of those bands had REAL talent with music writing and playing abilities. Lately I can't stop playing alot of Warrant. If you really listen to the music and forget the idea that those guys were "Glammed up" it really opens you up to respect for them IMHO.

I also feel as if the record companies most likely fueled that "Glam" look to try and sell records---mainly to chicks....hence the use of the all mighty "Power Ballad" on every album

So many bands were lumped together as "Glam" and tossed to the side.......leaving rare gems of real talent and music to waste away

Wow...no doubt. That band had all the promise in the world with Weiland. I bet Slash is sick to death of skinny lead singers.
