    I "won't" believe that.

Until I'm proven otherwise, AFAIC she was either a plant
or some cheapo version of a prof. at some hack community college or worse.

The 1957 filmstrip that I watched in 1978 contradicts you, MB:-)

Actually, Paul Revere said "The Regulars are coming", not "The British are coming" because at the time, they were subjects of the crown themselves, and thus considered "British".

Of course they show mostly people who don't know the answers, that's where the laughs are.

However, the reality is many people do not know this stuff any more. Our educational system is terrible, and getting worse. My oldest just graduated High School two weeks ago, and I feel fortunate that he's learned anything. Sure, individual accountability, and parental guidance factor into this as well, but there must be a base level of responsibility at the school and administration levels to engage kids to learn and achieve.

When my kid gets home I'll ask him the same questions and report back.

    regards,

    g.

I might get nervous around Leno too and blurt out a stupid answer or draw a blank.

This is especially sad when history's potential lessons are only a few decades old.
