He's about the size of a small apple...probably around three inches across.

I'm jealous, my backyard is a sun baked wasteland right now.

Look at the monsters in my backyard! First, there's the spider I found today...almost as big as a nickel.

This squash is threatening to overtake the back yard. I think it's Jack's bean stalk!

Look at the size of the thorns to this calamansi. I am not sure if it's the calamansi itself or if it's the root stock...but it's freaking dangerous!

We used to see those spiders in the fields all the time.
                  They must be countrywide.
I've seen some 3" long (with legs)

Sometimes we'd throw grasshoppers in the web and the spiders would eat them.

Pumpkins, right? I have a couple in my garden as well right now. Last year those vines grew up my neighbour's 40' high tree. Try getting that stuff out of there

I've seen them around here, but never as big as 3". Haven't seen one for a while though. Around here, it seems to be mostly wolf spiders.

Mike, it's funny you mentioned throwing grasshoppers into spider webs. The first time I saw a spider like the one in Jessica's pics, it was in our back yard, and my dad said the same exact thing.

Beautiful pictures. Thank you for sharing them. I love the butterfly ones.
You are a bold and courageous person, afraid of nothing. High on a hill top near your home, there stands a dilapidated old mansion. Some say the place is haunted, but you don't believe in such myths. One dark and stormy night, a light appears in the topmost window in the tower of the old house. You decide to investigate... and you never return...

Two new butterflies that I was able to capture on film:

There's just something so magical about butterflies.

And the same for the other critters that come to visit:
