Aw crap...the FYE near me always has a used complete series box set. I'm always tempted, but it's still more than I can bring myself to spend. Maybe that will be cheaper, but then I'll have to resist the urge to upgrade!

What kills me is the extras. I honestly don't think a B&W show looks that much better in Blu-Ray vs. upconverted DVD, and would never pay just for that.

The regular DVD season sets look so good I can't imagine they could be improved on.

They definitely wont be able to do anything with the kinescope episodes

There definitely is improvement in HD on black and white material. I do want to get them (through I might wait until the price comes down a bit) and I am lucky in that I didn't take the plunge on The Twilight Zone on DVD until the definitive collection season sets.

Mike's right about the videotape ones though. Though I hope on blu-ray, they provide the video version and the kinescope version. For many years the only way you could see those shows was the filmed kinescopes until they found the videotape masters.

I'm satisfied with my TZ Definitive Collection set. I originally saw these episodes on a small B&W set beamed in on a set of "rabbit ears" antennae so the remastered DVDs are good enough for me. I'm wondering if HD won't just make all the scratches and ticks of the original Masters seem all the more obvious -- episodes like Black Leather Jackets have some definite flaws.

Oh man, that one was bad

Was just watching an Outer Limits that starred the same guy (Apollo from Star Trek) and that one was nasty too.

The guy must only play in crappy episodes (except being Apollo on Star Trek)

I was referring to the condition of the film stock as being flawed, but since you mention it, the final season of TZ did have some "inferior episodes"...
