This makes up for Waterworld and maybe even The Postman

There are lots of other legit ideas on cleaning up the oil in the gulf, but bureaucratic blundering and roadblocks are getting in the way. I'm glad that Costner was able to help.

Good for him! I'd heard about his machines, but I didn't realize that BP was actually going to implement them. Hopefully they're able to do some good.

Wyatt Earp was great! A bit long but among some of my favorite westerns.

I had heard about this story last month, before the machines were being used. I had figured they wouldn't use them until the leak was stopped. I'm thrilled they work, they work well and they're using them right now! Hollywood has a lot of fakes living in it but this is one of the best things anyone has ever invested in. I doff my cap to Mr. Costner. He's done something really great!

I liked Waterworld and enjoyed Postman, but you went too far with Wyatt Earp.

Just kidding. I actually like most of Costners work, including Wyatt Earp.

                          Good for Costner!

I like his movies. For me Dances With Wolves is his weakest because he portrays the Pawnee as the Skinhead/Punk bad guys. In fact the Lakota were originally from the forests surrounding the Great Lakes, and were the invaders of Pawnee territory, the Great Plains. His portrayal of the other bad guys -- the Whiteman -- was as bad as any 1950's B-Western's portrayal of the Indians.

                            I liked Robin Hood too.

I actually love all of Costner's movies...except for The Postman.

Wyatt Earp gets overshadowed by the more successful Tombstone (released in the same year)...but I like it just as much...and it's more epic and realistic. Tombstone has Val Kilmer though...he made that movie into a classic...lol.
