Ford F150 Supercrew vs Ford F150 Explorer

About 3:30 this afternoon, I was going down the highway when a lady decided to turn left infront of me. All I had time to do was pucker (and I ain't talking about my mouth). I swerved to keep from T-boning her, hitting her in the front quarter panel, spinning her 180 deg. I went airborne and land head first in an enbankment of a ditch. I am alittle sore, though I had broke finger, but over all, OK for now, but I know I will feel it in the morning!!

Both the lady and daughter were taken to the hospital. The lady fractured her arm and was complaining of chest pains. Her daughter was bleeding from the mouth.

Funny thing is, I am a first responder and I grabbed my bag and started doing 1st aid on the lady because she was looking like she going into shock. The ambulance and police arrived in minutes and could not figure out who was driving the truck because I was busy with her.

I remember after the first initial impact, thinking, "My air bags didn't go off!", but when it hit the embankment head first doing around 40 mph, they went off.

What is it with the car accidents around here? Glad you are relatively okay and were able to be of service. That looks like a rough landing.

I just realized something. I thought I hit her with my left side of my bumper and ricocheted off her into the ditch. I just realized my entire front left side is basically untouched.

We were heading at each other on a two lane highway. She turns left in front of me and I thought I swerved to the right to miss a direct impact. I am now guessing I caught her in her front right quarter panel dead on with the front of my truck.

Tell you what, that second impact with that embankment was jarring!!! Glad I got some perca-set (spl?) for the doctor this evening. Took one before the pain really set in.

Ever try to get in to see a doctor on a Friday? It is impossible!!! I went to one of these after hours walk in clinics yesterday, but all they told me was to take perca-set and go see my general practitioner.

I am sore today, walking around like an old man!!!

Hope everything is ok. Sometimes it takes a couple of days to realize how bad the injuries are.

Was the other driver officially charged with the accident? Many people won't own up to the blame and will try to spin the story to make it look like you were at fault.

If she cut you off making a left hand turn, wouldn't it be your driver's front side that was damaged or did you swerve left to avoid her and clip her front right with your right side?

She was ticketed with failure to yield or something. I did swerve right, but i am guessing I still hit her head on into her front pass side quarter panel. If I didn't swerve, I would have hit her dead on in the pass side door, right where the teenage girl was sitting.

Like the State Trooper said, I didn't have time to even pucker, there were no skid marks or anything. I just remember thinking in that split second, "This is gonna hurt!!"

The damage to my pass side quarter panel was due to the embankment.

The wittness said I went airborne over her hood after the initial impact.

And like I said, I don't think the initial impact did that much damage to my truck because my airbags didn't even go off until I hit the ditch.

The thing I am mad about the most, I never ever fill my truck up, i always put $20 at a time. Well, that morning, I filled her up, costing me $70 in gas!!!

Here is a picture of her quarter panel. You can see the scratch marks across her hood from my truck:

Wow. I am so glad you didn't get hurt more and hope that your aches and pains subside quickly, and that the woman and her daughter are okay. Must have been a pretty hard collision to bang Fords up like that.

Holy Cow! I've been looking at this thread title since I came back about a week ago, and just didn't bother to click it. I figured you were shopping for a truck and were comparing models or something like that!

Man I'm glad to "hear" that you're alright Tiger! I think thats awesome that you hopped right on out and were able to administer first aid. The only car wreck I've ever been in, the guy that ran into me (his fault) wanted to fight after we had stopped spinning and gotten of our cars!

Wow, got a call from my insurance company today (I used mine since the other lady only had $10K coverage), and I am getting back more than I paid for the truck sixteen months ago. Thats how great of a deal I got on the truck. After paying off my totaled truck, I still have $4500 left over to put down on my new Hemi (or $4000 down and a nice carded Fig ).

Now the fun part, injury, doctor visits, lost time. They offer $2700 (thats $1000 over lost wages). This is her insurance company that is handling this part.

I am just stoked about the check for my totaled truck. My wife kept saying I was gonna get screwed and end up having two truck notes for a while.

Check your insurance coverage. The state minimum here is 10-20-10. The last 10 is $10,000 coverage for property. Now my insurance company will have to sue here for the additional $5000 that her coverage didn't cover.

BTW, the first 10 is $10,000 coverage for injury per person and the 20 is $20,000 max medical for all people. So if you hit car with 3 people in it and each have $10,000 in med bills, you are responsible for anything over $20,000.
