    Did this man witness Bigfoot?

I doubt it. But he sounds sincere...

"I talked rough to him and ran him off."

I would encourage him to quit smoking pot with Grizzly Adams...

Did you hear his 911 call? I think he had just witnessed about a half case going into his mouth.

I think all he witnessed was some Jack Daniels.
You are a bold and courageous person, afraid of nothing. High on a hill top near your home, there stands a dilapidated old mansion. Some say the place is haunted, but you don't believe in such myths. One dark and stormy night, a light appears in the topmost window in the tower of the old house. You decide to investigate... and you never return...

It has to be investigated-and probably is being investigated. Bigfoot is something I read about since I was a kid and it's probably a real animal-like a great ape. There are reports from all over the US & Canada. Probably some from your ow state. Check out these guys. They collect reports:

Steve Summers, the bionic man, hooked-up with Bigfoot.

Here's the going away gift Brock Samson painted for them.

Here's the shot I'm sure the Venture Bros. was making fun of.

I really would love for Bigfoot to be real.
Remember a couple of years ago, when those two dill-holes in Georgia claimed to have a body? Pictures of it were all over the news.I got so mad when I found out it was a hoax. One of them was even a cop!

I think the overall history of Bigfoot is interesting and I don't doubt there is a thread of truth somewhere in a collection of those accounting's. But, like anything, myth often overtakes truth and then you have the generations of thrill seekers wanting a spotlight for themselves to keep the story alive. For myself, I wouldn't doubt there was a period in history (long ago) where we had a species that was not cataloged and accounted for that roamed the hills of North America and abroad. But not now (and probably not in the last several hundred years at least). With our ability to solve murder mysteries some 30 and 40 years old with DNA samples, I find it scientifically impossible for any land species to exist with all of this supposed "evidence" and there is no DNA evidence on the tracks or surrounding areas where they have been "sighted". And what about remains from those that would have died? It's just not credible. And when all any person has to do is say, "I saw it"...?... Well...

'Cuz the really "real" news is too damn depressing. Fluff like this is fun and a nice distraction via stupidity that is harmless versus the other headlines that aren't so harmless.

Having read some of the literature out there I can offer some explanations. It's easy to dismiss it all but if you keep on top of the subject you'll find there are answers.

No body has ever been found. This is not a big mystery. Any carcass left lying in the open may be consumed by scavengers and decay before it's ever discovered. An experiment was conducted by the History Channel in one of their Monsterquest episodes. A deer carcass was chained to the ground and a time-lapse camera was set to record how fast it decomposed. They predicted in a month. It was consumed in under a week-approximately 5 days. Now if you know for a fact where a Sasquatch lives and know the time of death and where the carcass is you have 5 days to get to it before it's gone.

Other carcasses not usually found by people include: Bears, un-domesticated cats such as mountain lions, bobcats, etc., moose, elk, deer to name a few. You may find deer hit by a vehicle on the side of the road but won't likely see them dead, out in the open, in a field, in the woods, or on a trail. This also does not address the possibility that they, Sasquatch, bury their dead. A somewhat unsettling thought because it would me they might be as smart as us.

Where is the DNA? DNA has been discovered on some locations. Hair samples, tissue and blood samples too. However these have been discovered in the outdoors. Some have given up dna and some have not because the elements have degraded the samples. The animal is mostly an unknown so some samples have been identified as primate but not having a database to compare to; there's not much more info you can glean. A DNA sample will not call out, " I am from Bigfoot!". Since few believe in the animal no-one has legitimately tried to capture it and there has not been one in captivity you are stuck with a Catch 22.

Things that support it - footprints. Dr. Grover Krantz, (now deceased), collected footprints for over 30 years. He discovered in some plaster casts that the foot that made the print was not a fake but an anatomically correct foot. It flexed and bent pretty much were it should. The depth of the prints also clued him in on the weight of the animals. A comparable human foot-print would be shallower in the dirt or mud because we do not weigh nearly 1,000 lbs.

Also imprints of dermal ridges were recorded. Dermal ridges are like fingerprints but on your feet. He had more than one FBI fingerprint expert examine his casts and they declared them authentic. One FBI examiner was also familiar with all types of Ape and primate footprints and stated these casts did not match any known species. Meaning the imprints left in the cast were not faked and whatever/whomever left the print is a living thing. The prints are not from cut-out feet. Fake feet would be stiff and the dermal ridges could not be believably reproduced in a fake foot. As of this date the FBI does not know of any way for someone fake finger-prints.

The best book I can point you to is Bigfoot: The Evidence by Dr. Grover Krantz. He explains a lot of things very easily for the average reader.

Jim, I totally agree - but nearly everything else on TV exists to be a distraction from the depression of reality - can't the news just be actual news?

The harm is that I think journalists should strictly follow journalistic standards. They shouldn't be allowed to just turn those standards off for amusement.

The sad part is regardless of "journalistic integrity" it's the splashy headlines and outlandish story's that draw viewers and readers. Honestly I don't think we've ever really had simple straight journalism in a very long time. Once Mr. Turner launched CNN most outlets had to get a little more sensational to keep up. Fast forward 20+ years, factor in the internet and you've got a big ole mess on your hands when it comes to standing out with "just the facts ma'am". I think on the local level you can still find journalistic integrity but the bigger the city/ market the more likely you'll see even more fluff and speculation stories.

Technically if you want true journalistic integrity, a reporter must either completely uncover or wait until both sides of an issue have been played out to it's logical conclusion so as to be truly "fair and balanced." Speculation of any sort (i.e. talking about a trial before the jury has deliberated and sentencing carried out) leads to more "opinion casts" than "news casts".

Well that's my take, and I'm a news director. Yeah, kinda sucks to be me sometimes.
