    Anyone going to SDCC?

I was curious if anyone is going to the SDCC? I was planning on it but change of plans on the home side.
I ask since I was wondering if anyone could pick me up one exclusive?

As I discovered last year, even if you are going to SDCC, the method of buying exclusives, particularly from Mattel and Hasbro is pretty insane and line-intensive.

I'm pretty sure it's worth the ebay prices to NOT have to stand in line!

Tron should be able to be cash affordable on Ebay.
The Only thing that ever really isn't ..., is Mattel's Stuff , and Gentle Giant Star Wars Busts, depending on what it is. Last yr, the DCD Green Lantern stuff as a lot of cash too.

If you want a He-man figure, DC Universe figure or a Star Wars Bust,... best buy it on Ebay the week of the con ..., after that prices go up to insaine amounts. Just what I've scene.

                Interesting perspective.
From what I'm seeing on Tron Collectibles and writes up on Wired, it seems this ltd.ed SDCC will command high money, mostly to overseas collectors, like in Japan. Tron has a cult following over there.
From the looks of the lackluster response, I'm have to go via the route of the Bay, unfortunately since EE will not carry it.
                Blows.

To be honest ..., I really don't follow Tron Collectibles. And also don't know the production run of the piece, sometimes this fact is Key. Edited : I just saw the box, it says 1500 ..., Thats alot .
Just from spending my own Money on Past SDCC Exclusives,... the Mattel Stuff, Gentle Giant, and
DCD GL figures were the stuff that had I couldn't get without spending a lot of cash ... BBP Stuff, Hasbro stuff, and other busts and figures I had purchased, were damn near the same amount they were at the Con.

I'm not sure what I'll have to pay to get that Plastic Man, but when you factor in the travel, hotel, con fees, line-ups, crowds. $60 bucks seems like a steal.

It is interesting how many have started using the exclusives to subsidize or pay for their San Diego trip but are you really having that great a time if most of your efforts are spent trying to score sketchbooks and action figures? Although some people spend that much time getting into the programming rooms, so who knows? I just never had the patience for it.

It's very much dependent on your perspective. To me 1500 is a little in comparison to collectors world wild. Seeing that TRON is a niche collectible that has since gotten cult status among techies, it makes sense to see this one piece be in high demand. Eventually the price will rise and most SDCC exclusives to go up pretty quick due to scalpers setting the worldwide demand value by setting a price. This includes the settling of price once competition flats for a bit. After that, the demand will increase and value will rise until years later when it's will be drop value.
I just don't care for any of that and want to procure at face value.
Sucks to be in this situation but feels like my hands are bound at I'm left with the option to purchase from a scalper.
                      Again..blows.

I agree with Ed 1500 is going to go very fast for this Piece considering the buzz on Tron Legacy .anything Tron is very hot at the moment in anticipation for the big release of Tron Legacy

Just from experience from last year, I bought two Hallmark SDCC exclusive ornaments last year. The pieces were very limited so I decided to buy right away while the supply was relatively high (buyers were quickly unloading for a quick buck). As soon as the supply dried up prices doubled. Just something to keep in the back of your mind if the pieces are limited. If there are pre-orders and the prices are reasonable, it might not be a bad idea to hit the button if the seller has a good reputation.
