You Floridians, A/C amateurs. We have TWO HVAC systems in my house, one for the East side, one for the West side. When the A/C goes out, its not an inconvenience in the summer, its a life threatening situation! I have one system slowly leaking freon. We've been recharging it every 18-24 months (opposed to dropping $7K to replace it). We've had to move from our bedroom on one side to the other waiting for a repairman. When your "High-Low" temps get into the upper 90's at night, A/C is not an "option".

I've had to go a week without A/C...and let's just say alot of time was spent in the car and in shopping locations.
The only reason we went so long without A/C... the repairman couldn't schedule us sooner.
Central A/C is a requirement in FL!~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Canadian summers are no treat either, much to the surprise of many southeners who might find themselves here in July, August and September. We don't get a dry heat, just a hot, sticky, humid mess.
Having said that, it's been pretty mild so far, but I'm off to Florida next week for my honeymoon, so I'll get a taste first hand of what you guys are talking about.Comment

My a/c went out last week. Someone I speak to on here (Not from Florida) cannot understand why I am so miserable!
My question is, How well do you fare in Florida (summer months) without a/c? Do you think you could make it through a Florida summer without a/c?
The question is for those that live here year round that knows what a Florida summer is like.

I have a friend over at Disney today, at his wife's insistence, with their kids. Well he just called and said it's like the apocalypse over there. People passing out, getting sick, kids throwing fits etc. Said he had to hang up to try to find some a/c. lolComment
