    Floridians and Air conditioning

My a/c went out last week. Someone I speak to on here (Not from Florida) cannot understand why I am so miserable!

My question is, How well do you fare in Florida (summer months) without a/c? Do you think you could make it through a Florida summer without a/c?

The question is for those that live here year round that knows what a Florida summer is like.

lol, absolutely not. I'm in the Cocoa Beach area and the it feels like temp today is over 100 with the humidly as high as possible. There's no way I could go more than one day. I would have to sleep in the pool.

I'm assuming you have central air. If money is the issue, at least grab a window unit for your bedroom.

Sometimes you can get a super deal on a used window air conditioner at your local mission.

I got one a few years ago cheap because "it didn't work good" ... I found out because nobody changed the filter

Dave I grew up in Mississippi, it's like 95% as bad as Florida, and while I think you'd live, you wouldn't be worth a ****e for anything... You gotta get's you some A/C bruther... Sleep outside if ya have to, at least ya get a breeze... Anybody living above say... Tennesee, has no idea what they are talking about if they tell you differently.

I live in Pennsylvania and I couldn't live without AC. We vacation in Kissimmee and NO WAY would would stay anywhere without it.

In the winter time you southern guys always bust our northern behinds with comments like "wow, it's 20 degrees there- it's a beutiful 70 here"

Now it's time to pay the piper

Yeah the central air was finally fixed today. I had to buy a few window shakers which are noisy and an eye sore but there is no way we could have stayed at our house without them. Yesterday, The Mercury here was 101 with 100% humidity (Hell on earth in other words!) Today it feels worse. It has gotten really hot, really early this year in Florida. I think we are going to be in for one hell of a summer!

It stinks when you don't have AC. Earlier this month I had to get by with just fans. That was no picnic.

I'm in Houston and there is NO WAY I could be here more than a few days without A/C. When hurricanes knock out our power it's sheer hell without A/C.

I'm in Winnipeg and the summers get hot as hell here as well.
Theres no way I would go without Ac for more than a night here either so I don't blame ya one bit.
“When you say “It’s hard”, it actually means “I’m not strong enough to fight for it”. Stop saying its hard. Think positive!”

                          lol

I think with heat we are getting so early, we are going to have a pretty active hurricane season.

I lived in Orlando for a year, and there is NO WAY I could have survived without air conditioning. I worked the midnight shift and during the summers I did not even want to go outside during the day and usually didn't. I'm back up north now, but I still need AC in the summer.
