OMG - What are the odds?

Okay, a little background. About 25 miles or so away from me is a 62 foot statue of Jesus at the largest church in Ohio, Solid Rock. It's primarily made of wood and foam particles around a steel frame. I took a picture there last Summer with the travelling Mego. He's either known as Touchdown Jesus or Big Butter Jesus around here.

    He's currently on fire.

Yeah, we just had a huge storm front roll through here, and he was struck by lightning. Jesus just got hit by freakin lightning! THey have a news crew headed out there now. I know I shoudn't be laughing, but the irony is just too funny. Seriously, what are the odds.

Who's idea was it to build that thing ?

It's just too weird having the guy that walks on water built haftway submerged in it.

I think the lightning was God's way of saying he don't like it

Why does it look more like Zeus than Jesus?

I'll have to check out pictures in the morning. I wonder if this is insured and if they will deny the claim as an act of God. I can't imagine that phone conversation.

It would look a lot better if they told people it was John the Baptist.

Is he always in the water like that? How odd. I would love to see pics of the Flaming Jesus though.

Edited to add: Now I see the fountain off the to side. That'll learn me to read forums without my glasses in the morning.

It's nice to see a church spending its congregation's money so wisely.

                  It's official. He's gone.

All that remains is the steel frame used in it's construction. The church is known for their outlandish spending. This place is HUGE. They have their own hotel attached to the church. They seat something like 7500 people in an auditorium setting. The pastors are treated like celebrities by the congregation. It's like a rich cult.

I still can't help chuckling a little at the irony of it all.

My wife and I drive by Touchdown Jesus several times a year when we go to visit her parents. The trip will not be the same without seeing Jesus show his support for American Football.
