Wow, great thread topic HardyGirl :-)
First things that come to mind....
Going on trips with the family to Alabama or Kentucky.
Fourth of July fireworks.
The Annunciata and St. Francis school carnivals.
Getting Push-Ups from the ice cream truck.
Walking to Ben Franklin and buying Star Wars figures and various rack toys.
Running through the sprinker on the front lawn.
Occasional visits to River Oaks Mall and Toys R Us for toys and beach toys.
The smell of the American Sales store.... still today when I notice a similar smell it takes me right back to those summers, being in that store looking for swimming/beach items, and perusing their toy aisle.
Long rides on our houseboat, diving and swimming in Kentucky Lake all day 'til dinner.
Playing "It" (i.e. tag) out in front of the house with a couple of kids and being allowed to do this "until the streetlights came on" and then time to go inside.
Being very happy that the streetlights wouldn't come on until much later during those long summer daylight hours!
