Lucky for me that Canadians are so honest

I have a bit more faith in people now. Two weekends ago I picked my wife and kids up at the Toronto airport. She had a baggage cart packed full of all the crap she hauled back from Japan. When we got to the car, I threw everything from the cart into the car while my wife buckled up the kids. The next day when my wife is unpacking she asks "I can't find my laptop, is it still in the car?". Me: "Uhhhh, I don't remember seeing a laptop case in the cart, I just thought you had it packed in with some other luggage". We then figured that I had somehow left it in the cart (it was in a black case and the parking garage was a bit dark). I made a desperate call to the Pearson Airport lost and found, not expecting anything positive, and wonders of wonders, someone found it and actually turned it in! So I had to shlep up to Toronto again this past weekend, but I'm just happy I didn't lose my wife's laptop (it's an older one, and she has another newer one anyway, but still....). I just wish I knew who turned it in to the lost and found, cause I wanna buy them a drink.

            Nice try.

I'm just happy that I got it back for my wife. She is far from the type of person who would hold my dumb mistake against me, but it was great to say "Don't worry honey, problem solved!" The funny thing is that her family in Japan was floored that we got the computer back. They were saying things like "Wow, Canada is such an honest and trustworthy country". Meanwhile, I always thought the same thing about Japan. Everyone seems so honest, innocent and naive, I'd assume that if I lost a laptop at Narita airport, I'd get it back almost guaranteed.

I love stuff like this that renews your faith in humanity.
"Do you believe, you believe in magic?
'Cos I believe, I believe that I do,
Yes, I can see I believe that it's magic
If your mission is magic your love will shine true."

Wow, you really got lucky. In Brussels that would've been gone too
