I was raised on K-Tel records and still have all my Mom's and mine from back in the day.
I was more of a 45RPM boy and I never really bought many albums by specific artists so K-tels were made to order for someone like me. All original artists and versions of the hit songs.
I loved the commercials. They played them so often that they were almost like a song all their own. You could sing along to the commercial medleys because you knew exactly which song clip was coming next. I was still buying K-Tels into the 80's.......
Man I'm right there with you, I still have all of mine and my parents' K-TEL records also. I listened to them so many times that I can still remember which songs appeared on which records and even sometimes the running order, lol.

And yeah those commercials played SO much, especially on the local stations here in Chicago (WFLD Chan. 32, etc.) Even now when I hear certain songs on the radio, my mind will automatically hear the next song played during those commercial medleys! That K-Tel ABBA greatest hits record especially, that one is permanently burned into my brain haha.

And as a kid I would get so overly excited when the commercial would mention the record containing a KISS song!

    Hometown

Sigh... memories. And what a small world: K-Tel was founded in my hometown during my childhood, and the nephew of the founder (Phil Kives) was one of my best friends growing up! We lived on the same street and probably also played with Megos together!!

My fondest memories of K-Tel? Why, the many SCTV ads spoofing their products, of course!!

I have that Hit Machine and Looney Tunes as well as 3 album set called Silly Songs.
I think Hit Machine came with posters and I'm 99% sure mine are still in it.

Oh man, my friend Donald had one of these. I remember when we used to play record in his basement, and I'd bring mine over to his house so I could give them a good cleaning w/ this thing.

I had Looney Tunes (not to be confused w/ the cartoons). I played that thing to death! A few years back I bought Starburst (2 record set).
