I miss them too. I miss the little restaraunt in the back, and at Halloween and Christmas all the great stuff you could buy. I really miss the days of Ben Cooper and Collegeville costumes! They were the best!

Ours only had a lunch counter -- It wasn't a full blown restaurant with table seating.

The whole store was pretty small though.

I would guess the store was probably only 1/4 the size of a normal K-mart

That's pretty cool. Thanks for posting it.
You are a bold and courageous person, afraid of nothing. High on a hill top near your home, there stands a dilapidated old mansion. Some say the place is haunted, but you don't believe in such myths. One dark and stormy night, a light appears in the topmost window in the tower of the old house. You decide to investigate... and you never return...

I've posted this one before, but it's still my fave Woolworth Halloween ad. I had the Bionic Woman costume in 6th grade:

It was exactly the same in Keokuk, Iowa, across the river from Carthage, Illinois, where I grew up. I bet they had different floor plans depending on the available footprint of the space they were using, etc.
