    Who here owns a Kindle?

I purchased the Kindle v2 last August and love it. I still read paper books - some things aren't available for the Kindle or I purchased in paper or hard back before I owned a Kindle - but most new stuff I read electronically via my Kindle. After the first 30 or so minutes of reading, you get used to it.

I'm so used to it, in fact, that just for a split second, I sometimes glance around for a real bookmark to mark my spot when I'm ready to take a break from reading! It really is just like reading a regular book.

So who out there also has a Kindle or Kindle DX?

I have the kindle app on iPhone. I wish it could look up words as I'm reading.

Pretty much any ebook format can be converted to read on the Kindle at no charge. I've gotten books from a lot of other sources and read them on my Kindle with no problem at all.

I had a Kindle for a little over a year and loved it. I have since replaced it with an iPad, which works better for me as I don't have to worry about low light. I gave my daughter the Kindle and she loves it as well.

My boss has one and loves it. I'm still old school. I like holding the book in my hand and turning actual pages. I also would worry about taking on the beach for example with the hot weather and sand....I suppose they have covers for them to protect against things like that?

Good point. I take my iPad to the lake, but I don't think I would take either that or the Kindle to the beach. They do have covers for both of them, but when you are actually reading, they are exposed. And that is actually one area the kindle will excel over the iPad, blinding light washes out the iPad screen.

*Sigh Yeah lets lose the smell and beauty of a finely bound book.

You mean the musty smell of a used-bookstore fantasy novel!
