    Beer for summer

So, I just mowed my front lawn, along with its 7 foot tall hill that runs for about 80 feet. It was overgrown with weeds, so I had to break out the weed whacker. By the time I was done, I was a mess, and I had to hose the grass & sweat out of my eyes before going inside. Even the mosquitoes knew I wasn't an appetizing meal.

I went straight for the fridge and cracked open a Schlitz, which has reverted to its '60s recipe. Beer never tastes better than after hard work, and this one was pretty good.

I generally drink Guinness draught from October-April, and go for lighter brews in the summer. One year I drank Lite, another year I went for ice beers. Since I became a dad, I've started mixing in non-alcoholic beers so I can be all responsible, and whatnot.

Can anyone recommend some good summer beers? I'm thinking retro, like Schlitz, if possible. I just Googled Schmidt's (Philly) and learned that it's no longer made . Schaefer is still available. Is it drinkable?

    Thanks for any suggestions.

You might be close enough to get Iron City from Pittsburgh...or I.C. Light. Used to drink that back in the day, but I can only get it occasionally now.

in cans is fine by me if there isn't anything cheaper around!

Not that I've found, though I picked some up last summer when I was in NJ, the light version, I believe. Not bad.

Assuming I make the Meet in Wheeling, this would be an option. I've had the light, so I'd probably try the regular.

You lost me in the non alcoholic beers...lol.

But I mostly agree with your post...different types of beers for different types of climates.

Dark lagers and ales during colder weather for example...but for hot days...nothing goes better than refreshing lighter beers like a pale pilsner...oh...ahhhhhh...oooh....aahhhh...

My current favorite beer for a hot day...Mexico's Sol with a slice of lime...

Yeah, the non-alcoholic thing took some getting used to, but it actually works out pretty well.

The Sol with lime sounds like it might be mildly refreshing. I'll have to give that a try.

OH, I WISH I could drink a cold one.. over here. I'm officially dry until I return to Fort Hood this October. The NA stuff here is rancid.

Typically, I'd do Coronas with a fresh sliced lime, but I've had Sammie Adams in the frig for evening movie watching..

Beer, Gingerale and Sugar make a great summer time drink!
