    Gas Station Offers

When I was a kid, my dad frequented the Citgo station closest to us. I always liked going w/ him b/c some of their offers was the coolest stuff. Matchbox cars, bubble-up umbrellas, and my personal fave, mini SSP cars! My dad let me do the sufficient amount of begging, and come home w/ a surprise from Citgo. I felt like the coolest kid in Kindergarten when I brought my mini SSP to Show and Tell. (and again, all the little boys wanted to be my friend that day). I remember in 2nd grade walking to school in the rain feeling like such a big girl w/ my bubble-up umbrella.

Do you have any memories of Gas station offers?

Back in the 70's my local Arco gas station use to give away a plastic Noah's Ark animal with the purchase of any amount of gas.

You could buy the Ark itself for like $3.99

I had one of those too. But I think it was from a hardware store or a major chain grocery store.

I'm so happy that Bubble-Up is still around. Hope you still have the umbrella!
I grew up in Hollywood in the 70's and 80's so not much stuff to get unless you paid a lot for the Texaco vehicles. I'll guess I can reminisce vicariously through the kinds folks here.

About once a week, my Dad stopped and fueled up at a Gulf Gasoline station near our house. He knew the guys there and every visit (during some point in time) I got a free diecast type toy car with a fuel fill up. I think they were called Zowies. I think I still have a couple. I also got a diecast airplane at some point. Ah, the old days...

Ok, I didn't mean Bubble-Up the soda pop. I mean those umbrellas that were transparent and shaped kinda like a bubble. I had 2: one w/ Stop and Go sign and one w/ cartoon lions.

              Kinda like these:

Oops. My bad. Those are nice. Really like those type of umbrellas.
Stop and Go. Are those still around? Last one I saw was Pasadena about 18 years ago.

My Mom's cousin dated a guy that owned a Shell gas station. Her mother took care of me before I was old enough to go to school. I was probably 3 so it was 1970 or so. Shell had a summer promo that gave you a free Hot Wheels car with every fill up. He would bring me a couple every time he would come by and I was there Mon-Fri while my Mom went to work. By the end of the summer I had at least 200 redline hot wheels. Unfortunately they are long since gone but man what I could have had for a collection.

I also had the Noah's Ark sets. There was an Arco station near our house we used to frequent. Some other company released that afterward and I think the AJ alligator is very similar to the one that came with it too.
It's not a doll it's an action figure.

Sunoco use to give out big trading stamps of football players. They also had a book to put them in. I still have all the 72 dolphins.

My uncle owned the local Texaco station when I was a kid so I remember having a big Texaco tanker truck.
I also remember the Arco Noah's Ark set. I had that, too.
