Nope....Hanna Barbera's World Of Super Adventure was originally syndicated from 1980 to 1984.

More than likely what you saw on WNEW back in the 70s was something that they packaged together themselves. They were known for doing this quite a bit....grouping cartoons together under their own umbrella title...even though they did not purchase these packages as such.

I'm sticking to my guns. I was in CA in 1980 and I watched this in NY on my little B&W portable in my room before or after Fred Flintstone and Friends prior to August of '79 when we moved. I know what the internet says, but if one source makes a mistake, other sources will copy. The internet is not perfect. End of dispute.

'Cos I believe, I believe that I do,
Yes, I can see I believe that it's magic

^ No it's not the end of the dispute just cause you have a faulty or selective memory And trust me, I didn't check the internet for my info..I have several books about Saturday Morning television and H-B's WoSA did not debut until 1980.

Now you MAY have seen something similar in the 70s on WNEW...in fact they may have even titled it very similiarly or exactly the same even. But until YOU can prove otherwise, "sticking to your guns" based on your memory doesn't make it exactly cast in stone now does it

As I said, WNEW was notorious for taking H-B cartoons that they had the syndicated rights to and forming their own packaging for the programs. So you could technically have Huckleberry Hound and Magilla Gorilla on the same "Huck and Friends" program even though said program didn't actually exist

A similiar example is WPIX's Tom & Jerry show, which also lumped in MGMs Barney Bear, Droopy and assorted Tex Avery cartoons under one umbrella. Or when WPIX ran the "Marvel Super-Heroes" cartoon from the 60s as "Marvel Men" minus the Marvel Super-Heroes opening and closing theme songs.

          See....I do my homework

^ Whatever...I know what I know, and just because someone got it wrong, and everyone swears by it doesn't make any more right. Well known sources can make mistakes. TV, internet sites, DVD releases have ALL been guilty of this. Continuing to argue the point doesn't mean you've done your homework, it just means you're as capable of mistakes as everything else, INCLUDING ME.

Now let's move on w/ our lives, shall we?

Uh, no....I HAVE done my homework...in case you didn't read what I said (Remember....RIF )

And trust me, I didn't check the internet for my info
I don't put something out there as a throwaway post like some people, I make sure I fact-check and have my ducks in a row before hand.

It is DEFINITELY possible that the show you remember DID exist in the format you remember in the time frame you remember....But right now it looks like "ALL SIGNS POINT TO 'NO'" By all means if you can prove otherwise go right ahead.

My point is just because you "know what you know" doesn't mean you're right either when it's just based on childhood memories. Heck, I still have the notion that Fruit Brute was the best tasting Monster Cereal ever but I betcha if they brought it back I'd be like "Eh, why did I make such a big fuss about this?"

You have a sunshine day now ....But trust me on the sunscreen

                Fight, fight, fight....
Capt. Kirk: "Is there anyone on this ship, who even remotely, looks like Satan?"
Mr. Spock: "I am not aware of anyone who fits that description, Captain"
Capt. Kirk: "No, Mr. Spock, I didn't think you would be"

                  Herculoids

I've been watching the Herculoids late at night on Cartoon network, unwinding after a long day at work. The episodes now that I look at them with an adult's eye, are so formulaic. Ant people, ET looking little guys always attack the Herculoids planet until they are all blown up or trapped under the sea or in a web of caves.

Makes you wonder didn't the Herculoids ever get along with anybody, or ever receive any guests that wanted to capture them (and who knows what after)?

                  Just curious...

My cousin and I used to watch all of them. Great shows. Especially Space Ghost, Herculoids, Birdman, Fantastic Four, Mightor, and Shazzan.

That's what I said earlier to this girl. She was so wrong. I have also did my study on Hanna Barbera's World of Super Adventure (I have the book too) and it's first broadcast was in 1980. She probably saw that WNEW toon package that you said. Networks did that all the time.
