    Gone with the Wind
    Casablanca
    Citizen Kane
    Wizard of Oz

Those are probably the 4 classics that I think will never/shouldn't be touched

On an opposite note, i'm surprised nobody ever remade Forbidden Planet.

Heared rumors they were going to back in the late 90's but I guess nothing ever came of it.

I believe Plan 9 is being remade

i usually take a pass on all remakes, cause any updating usually changes whatever was good in it to begin with

I would like to see Star Wars Episodes I-III be "re-imagined".

And preferably by someone who doesn't have the letters GEORGE LUCAS in their name.

              OK here's how THAT starts...

(you see the twins being delivered from Sith...)

R2-D2 rolls up to C-3PO and starts warbling.....
Threepio: Wrong what do you mean that's Wrong?

We pull the camera back, to reveal Threepio in a cozy Ewok hut littered with Ewok children.

R2 beeps a sequence to threepio yet again

Threepio :Memory wipe what are you talking about?

then R2 's holoprojector lights up the side wall of the hut with the familliar words reading "A long time ago in a galaxy far far away"

              Bam, Instant credibility revival!

I hope I become FILTHY rich and outlive Lucas, because I want that to be how it really goes down.

On an unrelated note, The Wizard of oz IS currently slated to be remade ala Alice in Wonderland. Burton has been approached with the project, but has been quite tight-lipped about the entire project.

Dune was made in a TV miniseries sor the SCI-FI channel, and whilst the production could have been better, It told the story far better than the Theatre conterpart.

Hollywood is afraid to take a chance on any new scripts over the past 5 years. And the results have been disasterous. Movies like "A Nightmare on Elm Street" and "Haloween" were once prized franchises that no matter how campy the films were, they were instantly accepted and made money. The remakes? NOT SO MUCH! Haloween 2 TANKED because it was a poor film. The concept was too foriegn and looked and played out like a 2 hour music video.

Point being Where is the next big thing? Holywood is hindering the art world's evolution and creativity by turning down great scripts (which I am sure are out there) in favor for a sure dollar. It really hurts every industry along the way too.

Lately I have been watching Foriegn films BECAUSE i love the originallity. for you monster fans, check out "The Host" a korean film that rocked!

As for "Gone with the wind" and "Citizen Kane" these should never ever be remade. I can almost smell an even newer version of "It's a wonderful life" coming soon...

Yes, it was remade in 1977 as a TV Holiday movie under the title "It Happened One Christmas". It starred Marlo Thomas ("That Girl") as the lead character. It Happened One Christmas - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

I have never seen the original but have seen this version of it.

Gone with the Wind has already been redone if you count that Scarlett mess with Timothy Dalton.

Actually this is an old article, and there's always the possibility she was just goofing around with this tabloid guy - but I would pay good money to see Madonna in this train wreck of an idea.
