New Australian Tourism Ad - Aimed at you!

Well it's aimed at you if you're a North American that likes to travel But it will be shown in Europe and Asia too.

In Oz we have an bi-annual ritual of launching a new tourism ad and then moaning about how it's no good and doesn't represent us at all, blah blah blah.

With this campaign they've gone back to "basics" and played up stereotypes, so I'd love to hear what you guys all think. Would you be more or less likely to travel here after seeing this? It's causing a lot of huffing and puffing down here

    Works BIG-TIME for me.

The add makes me want to go even more than I did before.

Hell, it makes me want to pack up and move there

The whole trick of tourism adds is selling yourself --- this add certainly does that.

I give it 5 stars out of 5

Nope, doesn't do it for me. But I had already decided I wanted to visit Australia one day, got a cousin living there.
It is cool to see so much places and things of intrest tho, but the song bugs me and it's a little too much information crammed in one ad

I liked the ad. The problem with an Australian vacation for me is that it's sooooo far away. I don't like to rush things when I vacation, and between Australia and New Zealand there's just so much to cover in my head already and I haven't even cracked a book on what there is to see. Two weeks minimum after that flight, and it would take me several years of annual vacations to see what I'd like to see.

Sorry, rambling... I liked the ad, even with the goofy song.
After a few more trips to Central America and after South America it will become a possibility.

The song is a bit goofy, but it shows off the diversity of the people, places and things to see. Beautiful cinematography. I'd be more likely to go after seeing it.

Canadians slag on everything we do too. The commercial is a bit corny but tourism commercials always play to the stereotype.

Now if you'll excuse me I have to put on my Mountie outfit and meet bigfoot, we're going beaver hunting in a canoe.

They kept playing the same commercial over and over for Vancouver during the Winter Olympics that has Michael J Fox with the tag line "You Gotta Be Here" and I still see it occassionally.

                    The Australia commercial looks great.

I think I'm making a pretty big generality but I don't think most Americans or well traveled nor is there a deep desire with most. There are many places I want to visit in the U.S. and I travel more than most people I know at least.

I think most Americans at least the ones I know are more interested in traveling to Europe or the Carribean than anywhere else. I also know from personal experience as well as hearing from others that we don't even know how good we have it until one visits another country. For example, I have been to Germany a couple of times which seems to be more modern than most European countries but found myself missing small conveniences which I am accustomed to in the U.S.

I've wanted to go for a long time. Almost got a chance back in my theatre days in the late 80s, but that gig fell through. Now with little kids, it is hard to even think of a vacation where the travel time is over 6-8 hours. A great read is Bill Bryson's "In a Sunburned Country." I like him as a travel author.
                      It's all good!

It's an ok commerical. The slogan is good. I always thought it would be an interesting place to visit.
Nicole Kidman keeps bugging me to come visit her there.
Palitoy, you forgot to mention your French Canadian logger friend Pierre who wears plaid shirts.

Australia looks beautiful. Doubt I'll ever set foot there. Too far away. Most of our travel money and time goes to Kenya.

You are a bold and courageous person, afraid of nothing. High on a hill top near your home, there stands a dilapidated old mansion. Some say the place is haunted, but you don't believe in such myths. One dark and stormy night, a light appears in the topmost window in the tower of the old house. You decide to investigate... and you never return...
