Have you ever dressed up as your favourite character?
I'm trying to pull together a Rocket Man costume for this year, but the helmet's got me stymied . . . I suppose I could be Captain Proton until I figure it out . . .
I remember a picture of early comic fandom's Ronn Foss going to Jerry Bails' "Alley Tally" party back in '63 (I think) making a dramatic entrance as Rocket Man. He just used cardboard and tinfoil I believe. Not as sophisticated as today's costumer but if you are in a bind, some imagination can go a long way.
And most of you have seen these but here's my son as Batman, Robin, and if you look at the other pages, Spidey and more! Flickr: Photos from Christian's Dad

I have been Cpt kirk and a Red shirt security guard several times post college but in recent years I would have to be scotty from ST 5 (losing my battle of the bulge)
I was the George Reeves Tv inspired Clark Kent a couple times at work (my office is traditional shirt & tie) I have an old "press pass" for Clark from the DC role playing game (mid 80's) I put in my hat w a double breasted grey suit
I even did a Golden age GL Alan scott but the cape was wrong (i used a black cape) my do one again next year if I can get the cape made. The rest of it is easy (I have the lantern) and wear my DC direct Golden age Power ring often (drives my wife batty). The fact that they sell the long sleeve T ga gl shirt makes it really easy with some green spandex pants
Thinking about it, I have dressed as a lot of my heroes:
Captain Kirk
Captain America
Green Lantern
Mr. Fantastic
Cmdr. Riker
Lt. Worf
Indiana Jones
The Green Hornet
