Just curious, today was the first time I went to go play and hit a few balls and man i really loved it, got a few blisters but I think I'm hooked anyone else ?
Yes. I haven't played for about a year but it can get really addictive. I am lucky there is a golf course a few minutes walk from me so I can stroll over there with a club after hours and practice.

awesome
I know it's probably not much for some of you guys but I was able to hit 220 yards
I love to go out there, but haven't had the time to do more than the driving range last year. I'm not one to get upset if I don't look like a pro out there, so I have much fun. I get a huge blister every time from where my wedding ring pinches the flat of my hand, so I wear a glove on my left.
I started playing for a couple years but found the more I played the worse I got so I swore off it until I could take lessons. that was 3-4 years ago and I have not played again. it is a lot of fun though
I play...badly. I may be the second or third worst golfer alive.
I'm a former baseball player, so my swing has that kind of element. I look like Happy Gillmore out there, or maybe Conan. Now, when I make sweet contact, and that's a rarity, I can drive it 250 plus, but it's in the wrong direction. When I play I stick to par 3 courses. Haven't played in years, but I can only imagine I've gotten worse.

I almost had a psychic girlfriend but she dumped me before we met.
If anyone here believes in psychokinesis, please raise my hand.
I only got to play once and shot a 78 of course that was only for 9 holes
i always wanted to learn when a couple of friends played with they're dads back when we were teens and they never brought me along. so about 7 years ago a friend took me to a driving range for a cuople tries and then a year later that one 9 hole try.
i enjoyed it but have only just tried a driving range with my nephew once since then.

Like Random Axe, I'm also a former baseball player, but a baseball swing is pretty similar to a golf swing, you're just bent over instead of upright. In baseball, there's a tendency to "over-swing" to make solid contact (think about pulling the ball to left field if you're a right handed batter). In golf, if you over-swing in the same way, you'll go wildly off-course. I always try to use the same swing for driving the ball up the middle in baseball and it tends to work for me.
I'm not saying I'm good by any stretch of the imagination. I play only a handful of times in a year. But, if I put in the practice strokes at the range and the par 3 courses, I find myself shooting high-80s, low-90s on a regular basis on regular courses which is good enough to make me feel hopeful that I might not be a complete moron at the sport.
It is addicting. Unfortunately, my bank account can't keep up with my addiction, so that's why I don't play very often.
toys2cool, if you want to get better at the game, I'd recommend spending a lot of time at the par-3 chip-and-putt courses. Driving 220 yards is a good start, but it's not the drives that lower your scores, it's the way you play around the greens. Early on, when I was still shooting around 100 or so, I spent a summer playing the par-3 course once a week. Cut 10 strokes off my score, easily. Being able to chip the ball to a point where you have a make-able putt is way better than just trying to get it anywhere on the green and 3-putting just about everything. Drive for show, putt for dough.
All right, seeing this is getting me in the mood to start practicing. Game on!
I wouldn't call what i do golf per se'
i pay money to hit this white thing towards a hole but invariably all I do is spend time in sand or woods and never really get on anything green...
