Keep in mind that the dude was 19 when he sent that exchange. Anyone here have a dumb exchange between friends when they were 19? Yeah, that's what I thought. In my mind, the IM exchange has pretty much nil to do with what's going on now with the Facebook privacy settings.

I have to respectfully disagree.

I think it clearly shows the mindset behind facebook. The lack of respect for its users and their privacy from the very start. I consider it a pretty clear warning about the service and the people that run it.
