I went to an estate sale the other day looking for my usual LSU stuff. I found a stack of six magazines for 50 cents each. The top four were LSU magazines/programs worth about $10-$20 each. The two on the bottom were some kind of basketball magazines. I grabbed them because they were 50 cents each (not really looking at them).
I get home and call my friend to tell him (brag alittle) about what I found. While I was on the phone with my friend, I realize I have a 1953 LSU Final Four program. It has Bob Pettit in it, plus Dean Smith for another team.
My friend is somewhat of an expert on LSU programs. He calls another sports program expert/dealer in OK City. He tells my friend it is worth $1000+. My friend tells me that and I think he his full of crap. He offers me $500 to prove it.
Someone found another one at the same estate sale and has it on eBay already. It is not nearly in the condition mine is in (mine is a 7 or 8, his is maybe a 3), so I am anxious to see what it sells for.
BTW, the other basketball magazine is a copy of "1954 NBA in Preview" with Bob Pettit in it (rookie year). My friend says it is worth $200+.
